If you run a lounge, bar, restaurant, snooker spot or any “cash business” in Lagos, answer this:
Which one is draining you the most right now?
A) Unrecorded sales / missing cash
B) Power costs (fuel/PHCN) killing profit
C) Staff doing “sharp sharp” on stock (drinks/food/items)
• wrong pricing vs power cost
• staff handling cash without checks
• no simple system to track what goes out vs what comes in
👇 In the comments, drop A, B, C or D.
(If you want, add your area in Lagos too—Egbeda, Idimu, Ikotun, Alimosho, etc.)
D) Low customer turnout
Many hospitality businesses don’t actually have a “sales problem”.
They have a CONTROL problem.
A business can be busy every night and still be broke—because money is leaking through:
• no proper daily sales/stock reconciliation
How many months and how much money have you wasted trying to get NAFDAC, CAC, or other business permits in Lagos?
Too many business owners lose 6–12 months of potential growth because they start the process wrong, talk to the wrong people, or get scammed by fake agents.
You need to fix your approach first.
👇 In the comments, be honest:
1. Drop the number of months you’ve been stuck (e.g 4, 8, 14)
2. If you’ve been scammed by an “agent”, tell us what happened
The real problem is not that the process is difficult.
The real problem is that no one diagnosed the right path for their specific business before they started spending money.
You don’t need to pay 5 different agents to get your certification.
You are working for your business. When will your business work for you?
I once saw an entrepreneur in Akure who was celebrating a 50% increase in sales.
Three months later, he couldn't pay his electricity bill.
How is that possible?
To Fix it, you have to look at the numbers, not the noise.
You need to move from Gross Revenue to Net Cash Flow.
The Question:
Be honest—last month, after paying everyone else (Staff, Landlord, Govt, Suppliers), how much did the business actually pay YOU for your sweat?
In our environment, we confuse "Being Busy" with "Being Profitable."
If you are turning over millions but you are still borrowing money to pay rent, your business is Sick.
You cannot Grow a business that consumes more cash than it produces.
He was "growing" his way into a grave.
He was buying more stock than he could sell.
He was giving credit to customers who were "Big Men" but slow payers.
He was hiring staff because "the office looked empty."
He didn't need a Sales Manager. He needed a Diagnosis.
You aren't "Broke." Your business is just "Bleeding."
I once encountered a business owner in Ikola, Lagos, who was distressed about the "slow market." Upon reviewing his financials, we discovered that his sales were actually satisfactory.
To repair a business, you must first stop the bleeding. You don't need a "Motivational Speaker." You need someone to identify the leak and plug it.
What is the "mysterious loss" in your business that keeps you up at night? Is it the fuel? The stock? The cash?
However, you cannot grow a business that is bleeding from multiple wounds. Every Naira that "disappears" is a Naira taken directly from your children’s school fees or your expansion fund.
