One of the first things I learned about #gamedev - level design is HARD

@anaismitchell ... they just don't. As if my design skills are somehow external to me & I need to find ways to probe them and get them to reveal the right thing when that doesn't happen right away, do you feel that way too? How do you work your creative mind when it doesn't give in right away?
@anaismitchell Just finished (and started) hearing your book this week! I found it very inspiring and relatable; I also do some creative work (mostly graphic design) and often feel as though sometimes the designs "write themselves" or just come fully formed in my head and sometimes...
My brother (not a programmer, not on twitter) is an excellent artist. Been practicing for at least 40 years now.
He's known in his area and regularly sells water colors at exhibitions. He also recently started posting to Instagram.

I do wonder if I ever find a job that would make me feel content, and whether the side projects won't feel necessary anymore when that happens, or whether I'm justin the sort of thing person who's never going to be content with a day job
If you’re a developer and don’t want to work on side projects outside of your 9-5, I fully freaking understand that. If you just want to do your job and then go home and like sleep or take care of your family then I fully support that too.
