Let’s call a spade a spade. Paige was the media darling; Caitlin was treated like a media tool. Paige came in with typical rookie expectations and was welcomed with grace. Caitlin came in with sky-high expectations and constant critiques, and it often felt like the media was praying for her downfall.
Even Coach Geno spoke ill of Caitlin’s skills and team during her first month as a rookie. Not a single W player publicly stood up for her. Last season, the narrative was to respect the players who came before Caitlin, but that same respect hasn’t carried over this season.
When Paige struggled with bad games, poor body language, or frustration with refs, coaches, players, and media highlighted what she was doing well. When Caitlin excelled, she was labeled overrated, called a locker room problem, and dismissed as “not that good.”
Paige showed up. Caitlin showed out. The treatment has never been the same. I’m not going to shut up about it or forget.
