¿Comentarios?
OpenAI is in much, much deeper doo-doo than they let on yesterday.
👉Fundamentally, they claimed that “regurgitation” stemmed from “misuse that is not typical or allowed user activity, and is not a substitute” for The New York Times.
👉 Without speaking to the NYT case in particular, I can assure you that regurgitation *in the visual domain* can occur under ordinary circumstances. My recent article with @rahll at IEEE’s Spectrum provides multiple examples of how that can happen. [OpenAI has thus far refused comment on that work, at least when one journalist asked, and omitted mention of it in their statement.]
👉 Our experience is not unique; at least two journalists have already replicated the phenomena we described.
👉This reader comment on my newsletter (Marcus on AI) distills perfectly why the problem runs deep, and may affect many users—without adequate warning.
No, we are not even close. AGI would require systems that
👉essentially never hallucinate
👉reliably reason over abstractions
👉can form long term plans
👉understand causality
👉reliably maintain models of the world
👉reliably handle outliers
We currently have none of that.
