So many of us expressing shock and anger over the video of the child being beaten for his ‘Muslim-ness’. Many are asking on the internet, how did we get here. How did we get here ? We got here when you were celebrating music festivals through love Jihad rallies in the city. We got here when you where what-abouting through the lynching of Muslims on the streets. We got here when you changed your display picture to the national flag but refused to silence your bigoted family members on Whats App groups. We got here when you demonised and vilified us in popular culture, we got here when you cheered for ‘Kashmir Files’ getting the National Award for best film on national integration. We got here when you clicked selfies with the Prime Minister but lost your voice when Muslim students, activists were being thrown behind bars. We got here when a railway police officer went on a shooting spree in a train identifying and killing Muslims invoking Modi and Yogi but none of our public figures expressed their disgust.
We got here when you started distancing yourself from those dissenting against the government, being careful not to be seen in public with them.
A few weeks ago an acquaintance said “I have two Muslim’ friends and neither feel unsafe in the country’. We got here because you continue to gaslight us and the ongoing apartheid calls against us. We got here because you and your family members flock to theatres to watch films like Kerala Story and act naive when we remind you that you are enabling Islamophobia. So please for heavens sake, spare me your shock and horror

An Indian Muslim college student being beaten up for "talking to a Hindu girl."
My account was blocked in #india for uncovering Hindutva supremacist violence like this. RT
The truth I have known since I was a child & every other Black & Brown child has known - only one thing distinguishes a “terrorist” criminalized for taking arms to protect their homeland between a “hero” celebrated for doing the EXACT same thing.
Skin colour.
Nothing else.
This isn’t my fight as a Muslim woman. Nor is it the fight of our Jewish and Sikh colleagues. It should be the fight of *every* Canadian.
Every. One. Of. Us.

On 9/11, Canada accepted thousands of airline passengers diverted from the United States.
Canadians fed them, clothed them, and sheltered them. They never even once asked for anything in return.
Today, Trump asked @3M to stop selling N95 respirator masks to Canada.
Hundreds of migrant workers, with women and children, were forced to take bath in sodium hypochlorite solution (a disinfectant used by municipal bodies for sanitization) after they arrived in #Bareilly district on Sunday.

Ontario’s launch of “Learn at home” shows that once again policy-makers failed to centre their plans around those who need it the most. Is it time to re-envision education? With thanks to teachers who shared their ideas with me #EquityEd#covid19: https://t.co/kyZwNOtiNp
