You have to be a leading lady but you can’t be nominated for best actress. You have to be a strong female director but you can’t be nominated for best director. You have to have a wildly popular dance song but you can’t be nominated for best original song.
It’s contract work, but if you’re an artist who’s been effected by the riot layoffs and you’d like to try your hand at card illustration, the Disney Lorcana team is always accepting portfolio submissions:
From the conversations I'm having with folks, it doesn't look like ~waves hands wildly~ all of this will recover until 2026.
We're looking at the consequences of multiple years of systemic action coming home to roost. That takes time. Amazing games and devs will pay the cost.
The game industry straight up saying in news outlets they'll be doing layoffs for the next couple years because they had fucking buyer's remorse over their business decisions and the talent they brought on.
I don't drink, but this makes me wanna drink.
there's something genuinely so inhuman about people saying "youre only scared of AI cus it'll take your job!!!" ... Like ... Yes???? What the fuck is wrong with you? That's not some "ha! Gotcha!". Of course people are scared of losing their livelihoods you fucking parasite??
We're not even a month into 2024 and another 530 game devs have lost their jobs.
You know why? Corporate greed, that's why. It's beyond ridiculous that this industry keeps making record profits and record layoffs.
Devs deserve better. My dms are open if you need some help 💜✊
Games industry leaders have suggested that widespread job losses across the market last year will continue throughout 2024 and likely stretch into next year too.
