I'm teaching editing at my weekly writing group and quickly made this handy-dandy flyer to pass around. Please feel free to steal to your heart's content (and let me know how you like it?)
@luvless_lady Bonus: a civilization of kangaroo-like people now live there, building nests precariously in the spires and coming down only for food. This helps them stay away from predators.
@luvless_lady My fantasy world has this mountain range which, long ago, was ravaged by magic that left deep holes in the landscape. They were left behind after pillars of the land lifted up into the sky. Now there are 100s of stone spires floating above a pock-marked surface.
@stephanjhahn I use a notebook (that I always have on me) to collect ideas/outline, but I write all of my drafts and articles on Google Docs. This way, I can edit even while on the go using my phone, and there's always an updated backup!
Saying "My art is the worst"
-Self-deprecating
-Unfair to yourself
-Creates a cycle where you keep finding reasons to hate your art
Saying "I wanna practice and surpass my limits!"
-Honest
-Motivating
-Acknowledges that art is a learned skill, and that you can always get better.
Authors should be able to write in any genre they want, when ever they want
Neil Gaiman wants to write a 10 book epic fantasy? Do it
Nicholas Sparks writes a horror?
I'm there
Chuck Wendig does an Amish romance? I'd read that shit
Don't pigeon hole creativity
@Nadler369 I feel like in most cases "draft 5" is pretty generous. Eleventeen sounds much more accurate, but I don't think it would have fit on my handout!
@ChronosWolfang No clue! I certainly don't want to have the mentality of the people who are bothered by trans rights, either. I have no say in someone else's identity, they have no say in mine, just be kind to each other. Easy as that!
Lost 5 followers today for a tweet about supporting #trans rights, so I guess I'll get this out of the way right now: if you don't support transgender people, I don't want anything to do with you.
@TigerBites@DanelleMurray_ "My Dark Country" is Danelle's memoir about her life's work, owl conservation. It details her struggles to maintain her reservation amidst pressure and violence from Africa's most troubled inhabitants, the people that live around her.
Today is my publication day! I've been waiting for this day for a very long time and can't believe it is finally here. 😉 #writingcommunity#BookBoost Copies sold support owl conservation & a cause very close to my heart. #ArcanumPress
I started a writing group in Sacramento a few months ago and it's since grown quite large; large enough to warrant putting up some awesome posters around town...so that's what I'm going to do! What do you think? #writingcommunity
