@Andrzej1K@IMPERATORAUS Yet, different religious doctrine does not mean different Gods. You all worship the God of Abraham. The method of transportation is irrelevant if the destination is the same.
@AlexWynnAshwood Yeah, no one knows wtf is going on over here. It's almost like we're just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks and then rolling with it.
The candidates we get are ALWAYS terrible and it's annoying
@Andrzej1K@IMPERATORAUS Oh, I know exactly what built Western civilization and what destroyed it and gave us the civilization we have now. I know BOTH the OT and the NT, so don't give me that BS. The Christian worships the SAME Middle Eastern Jewish God as the Muslim and the Jew
@Andrzej1K@IMPERATORAUS Modern lies?? Where does your religion come from and WHICH God does it worship..? The God of Abraham, yes? Just like the Muslim and the Jew.
Just want to let you know that I enjoy our conversation 🤝
Now, you argue that your God knows every heart and therefor his actions were justified, but that is exactly the circular reasoning that i am challenging. You're assuming that your God is perfectly moral and then using that assumption to say that everything attributed to him is justified.
You mention Pharaoh's wickedness, but overlook Exodus 9:12 where it says that God had HARDENED the Pharaoh's heart...and later in Exodus 12:29 even the firstborn of the prisoners were killed too...I mean, what did THOSE children do to deserve death??
The Oracle of Delphi had the Athenians sacrifice to unnamed local divinities, not your God of Abraham.
Look, I've read the Bible, cover to cover and have gone through it MANY times. Paul literally interpreted an altar to an unknown god through his own Christian theology. I would say that Paul's interpretation is NOT historical proof that the Greeks worshiped Yahweh, at all.
As for your question about which Greek God suffered for humanity, you're applying a Christian understanding of salvation to an entirely different religious tradition. That doesn't work because they are not the same faith...
For example, ancient Greek religion did not teach that all humanity inherited sin and therefore required the sacrificial death of a divine savior.
HOWEVER, there ARE divine figures who suffered for humanity. Prometheus is one. He defied Zeus to give humanity fire and was condemned to terrible suffering for his actions. He was punished because he helped mankind. Is that worth nothing simply because his suffering doesn't fit the Christian understanding of salvation?
See, you condemn Zeus for what mythology attributes to him, yet defend every mythological attribution to your God, regardless of what suffering and destruction was involved.
I am not asking you to abandon your faith. I am asking you to apply the same moral standard to your own diety that you are demanding of mine. Why is violence evidence of Zeus's immorality, but evidence of your God's justice???
THAT is the question I want YOU to answer.
I have, but have you? Have you actually considered what you're defending?
Your God of the Middle East drowned a world that included children, killed Egyptian firstborn because of a Pharaoh's actions, and commanded the destruction of entire populations.
And your justification is that they were wicked? Were the children wicked too?
See, you condemn Zeus for the immoral acts attributed to him in mythology, yet when your own scriptures describe mass killing, suddenly there's a divine justification...
Why does Zeus have to answer for his actions, but your God gets a free pass?
