@dragonmaster_x @pitohui I was guessing that rather than mistaking the kanji for one another, the translator didn’t know the word 軍師 and guessed it meant something by like 軍医. But again, it’s just a guess.

Suikoden was doing so well with translating "gunshi" as "strategist" for awhile. But now we have the return of the "medical officer." Both lines are "gunshi" (strategist) in the original, but they get translated differently in English.

@demonvelsper They do the opposite too. “.....” lines in Japanese becomes entire fleshed out dialogue in S3 sometimes. Lots of liberties in the S3 translation it seems, although I’ve only done a bit of Hugo’s story in parallel so far go get a glimpse.

@Raka_PP It’s not a word in the dictionary. It’s a special Chinese term from the Water Margin for a magical power granting super speed. If you were to break it apart based on the characters, literally it’s something like “divine method of going.”

Let's talk about the Holy Rune.

The Holy Rune in Japanese is 神行法 (Shinkouhou). This is a term from the Water Margin. Dai Zong, the Magic Traveler, has this shinkouhou skill that allows him to move at incredible speeds.

This squad is called "Wild Geese" in both Japanese and English. I'm at a loss as to what in the world this means though.

The etymology of "homura" (written 炎 or 焔) is 火群(ほむら), literally a group of flames.
"Homura" is also a fancy word for "honoo", which is written the same way.
Similarly, "honoo" comes from 火の穂（ほのほ, honoho), which became "honoo.

What's up with Ronnie Bell's Hate Rune?

It turns out that the Japanese name is different. Her original rune is the "Homura" Rune. "Homura" means "flame" or "blaze."

So, this should be the Blaze Rune or something similar.

Blaze Rune would make sense as she does shoot a fireball.

However, "homura" can also refer to a passionate emotion, like a blaze of jealousy. Perhaps the translator was looking at this definition when deciding upon "hate."

Stallion's rune, True Holy Rune in English, is the 真神行法 (shin-shinkouhou), or the true shinkouhou. This is not confirmed to be a True Rune. My guess is that Stallion has the genuine shinkouhou skill, while the other shinkouhou runes are inferior or imitations.

The first kanji in Shinkouhou is 神 (God), which is probably why this became Holy Rune. Later games call it the Godspeed rune.

Flik's standing position is different in the Japanese and English version in this scene. I don't have an explanation for this, but it showed up during my parallel play.
