“Indeed the shame of a nation! Yesterday when I posted “Shame of a Nation” many people assume O was refering to some one called Bwala, frankly I don’t know who he is nor do I care about what he said or did not say! Others assume that I was referring to the unlawful detention of my husband, may be but frankly while his case is the shame of Nigeria my thought then was not about him!
Am sure you want to know why O wrote what I wrote….
The shame of a nation refers to the daily massacre of innocent souls across Nigeria and the lack of importance attached to it by those in leadership position! Rather they are more interested in preserving themselves and the position they occupy! Many, Governors have decamped to Join APC, while it is their prerogative I wonder why!
The Shame of a nation is referring to the leadership and leaders who took oath to protect people but who are more afraid of a Man than their creator who they swore to! It is about the sliding of decency and the lack of backbone to do the needful! It’s how our country is slowly sliding towards single party system not out of choice but out of fear of a human being! It’s about the pain, hunger and hopelessness of a people already broken by fear and diseases! It is about how much this country has and yet its people are wallowing in pain and hunger!
The shame of a nation is about everyone who sacrifices others so he/she can be comfortable! It’s about a nation that cares less about its citizens and more about wealth! It’s about everyone that justifies the silence with words like “what can I do?” Because we all know what can be done but we don’t want to be the ones to start it nor be the ones to lead it!
And yes, the shame of a nation is the silence of leaders, especially in the North, about the unlawful incarceration and political vendetta being carried out against Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai and the intimidation of his family members, staff and even people perceived to have sympathy for him! It is indeed a shame of a nation when one of its finest is being kept for the simple reason of being outspoken!
The shame of a Nation also refers to those who use social media access to shame and intimidate others, who think that they are invincible as such can utter anything g and get away with it!
The shame of a nation is the slow destruction of its youth by engaging them in political thuggery and refusing to give the education and skills required to survive and thrive! It’s a shame of a nation when agencies created to provide succor are instead used a machinery of intimidation!
it is indeed a shame of a nation when the word Independent translate to dependent …
if you think your snide and crude comments can silence me think again!”
