What the Malian government did today was strategic.
They allowed the terrorist to travel unrestricted into the heartland of the country, lure them further into open space, under the illusion of victory, then surrounded and neutralized most of them.
The Malian government may have succeeded, but the entire Sahel needs to be ready for the consequences on the extension of Hormuz closure’s effect to our region.
If the ceasefire with Iran refused to hold, as it seems so, by the end of April, then Europe will be in a desperate search for energy in Africa.
Trump already stopped the negotiation team from traveling to Pakistan, calling it waste of time, while the Iranians are insisting on their terms. Ceasefire is already hanging in the balance and Hormuz remained restricted.
Europe will have little option than to aim for the uranium in the Sahel, Lithium in Nigeria and evacuation area through the Coastal states, all these a likely the next central target for European energy sources.
So, in a nutshell, Mali’s victory today against the JNIM terrorist is the victory for peace in West Africa.
However, all governments in the region need to join hands with a common cause of rejecting the terrorist and stopping them from advancing on their evil plots.
Because they’ll definitely try again and again.
