Re: Abiy is a bully, and bullies only understand one language: standing up to them.
#Somalia should, under no circumstances, allow a single Somali port to be exclusively used by Ethiopia. After a decade, Ethiopia will likely claim it as their own, and the current Turkish leaders may not be in charge in 2035.
Think strategically.
If Ethiopia needs to import or export goods, they can do so strictly under the UNCLOS convention, which allows only transit rights for their imports and exports.
Our sea is our sea, and the moment someone says, “I have to have this, and I need this,” referring to something that is not theirs, is the moment you know you are dealing with an unhinged bully.
Ethiopia has access to over 17 ports East African and Horn of African ports. — how else could its economy be one of the fastest-growing in the world?
But that’s not the issue.
Abiy is engaged in a shakedown, just like gangsters do, and he wants to be imperial by annexing Somalia’s sea.
It’s as simple and clear as that.
@AhmedMoFiqi should not accept it.
Even if Abiy attacks us, and we are forced to defend our territory, that might be better in the long term.
After we spectacularly defeat him—and we will, as we have done many times to his predecessors — that will bring us 200 years of peace.
But the moment we sign anything in a rush and under pressure, as with the infamous MoU with Kenya that taught us a hard lesson, we will be shooting ourselves in the foot.
Tell him no to anything other than accord based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
What are the differences between insurgent and terrorist in security terminology? And which word do Western countries use to describe al-Shabaab?
Insurgents are individuals or groups who rebel against the government or authority, seeking political change. Terrorists, on the other hand, use violence and fear to achieve ideological, religious, or political goals. Western countries often describe al-Shabaab as an insurgent organization due to their tactics and objectives. Why?
1. Somalia has one of the highest wind and solar energy potentials on the planet. Wind and solar resources are suitable for power production on 85% of Somalia.
2. An engineer from SSC area designed this wind turbine and wind mill from a scrap metal and plans to scale it up.
3. Abundant renewable sources, long coastline with assortment of fish and crustaceans coupled with lots arable land, Somalia needs serious commitment in infrastructure to realize its potential of this unique position of being number one in the planet in renewable resources.
Somalia has been grappling with a multitude of challenges, from political instability to security issues. Despite these obstacles, the country has shown resilience and determination to keep progressing. However, the recent amendments to the constitution have raised concerns about Somalia's future trajectory.
The amendments to the constitution in Somalia have sparked apprehension among both citizens and international observers. The changes have the potential to destabilize the fragile political landscape and undermine the progress made in recent years. Many fear that these amendments could plunge Somalia into further turmoil and hinder its development efforts.
As Somalia stands at this critical juncture, it is essential for all stakeholders to carefully consider the implications of the constitutional amendments. The decisions made in the coming days will have far-reaching consequences for the country's stability and prosperity. It is imperative that all parties work together to navigate this challenging period and steer Somalia towards a more secure and prosperous future.
1. The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) has become a vehicle for marginalization in Somalia, particularly for SSC and Puntland communities. GPE is an initiative to expand educational opportunities in developing countries.
2. The Federal Government of #Somalia (FGS) excluded SSC Khatumo from participating in the GPE funds and withheld GPE funds from PL while encouraging #Somaliland to submit a separate application and allocated 24.9% of the GPE funds.
3. At the height of Somaliland’s bombardment of #Lasanod, Sol, Somalia, FGS has decided on March 14, 2023, that the Government of Somaliland can submit a separate application, whereas Puntland is treated a Federal Member State under the FGS.
4. As laid out in the Guidance on Division of Indicative Allocations for Program Implementation Grants in the Federal States, the system transformation grant (STG) and Girls' Education Accelerator (GEA) allocations have thus been divided as follows:
◾️ 75.1% to the FGS inclusive of Puntland, and
◾️ 24.9% to Somaliland.
5. Of the US$98.74 million STG allocation, almost 20% was accessed as Accelerated Funding in 2022 to respond to the drought.
◾️ FGS received $10 million,
◾️ Puntland $3.35 million, and
◾️ Somaliland $5.73 million.
6. An STG allocation of $79.66 million remains available, divided into two parts:
◾️ $60.76 million (75.1%) to FGS; and
◾️ $18.9 million (24.9%) to Somaliland.
7. The GEA allocation of $25 million is divided the same way:
◾️ $18.76 million (75.1%) to FGS; and
◾️ $6.24 million (24.9%) to Somaliland.
8. Somaliland's combined STG, GEA, and SCG applications are expected to be submitted to the Board in March 2024.
9. Despite the SSC region's neglected education system and the devastation of the recent bombardment of Somaliland militia, which has severely impacted the education system, affecting over 200,000 residents, 200 schools, and 700 teachers, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education (MOECHE) of Somalia excluded the funds from the needy children of SSC.
10. Despite having multiple meetings between SSC MoE and MOECHE since September 2023, MOECHE has been giving excuses to the SSC administration that only GPE and donors have the authority to allocate funds to FMS. However, MOECHE has the authority to apportion the funds as laid out in the Guidance on Division of Indicative Allocations for Program Implementation Grants in the Federal States which states:
“The responsibility for selecting the eligible sub-national levels that will be included in an application for a program implementation grant, and therefore will require an indicative allocation, rests at the country level. The Secretariat can provide information and advice but will not make this determination.”
11. MOECHE of FGS has to answer why SSC children can’t get their fair share of GPE education funds?

What can Somali leaders learn from a former president of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani?
1. Ma sida loo cararo last minute ka?
2. Ma sida loo daawado dalkaaga oo burburaya?
3. Masida hantida loo aruursado?
•Investing in good governance and the rule of law can diminish support for al-Shabaab.
•Strengthening the Somali National Army and other security forces will enable them to take on al-Shabaab more effectively.
•Collaboration and coordination with neighboring countries and international partners can help isolate al-Shabaab and disrupt its ability to operate.
•Focusing on economic growth and development can offer viable alternatives to youth whom al-Shabaab might otherwise recruit.
The Somali government needs to address without delay the recent conduct of Ms. Katriona Laing, whose actions have predictably transgressed the neutrality integral to her role as the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General (UNSRSG).
Her disregard for impartiality constitutes a high-level diplomatic issue that requires the immediate and firm attention of our government. Given the gravity of this situation, it is crucial that we take immediate and decisive action to correct this gross misconduct.
Diplomatic missions often participate in various international organizations and events on behalf of the sending state. Diplomatic agents represent their government in international forums, conferences, and meetings, advocating for their country's positions on global issues. They contribute to international discussions, seek support for their country's initiatives, and collaborate with other nations to address shared challenges.

Breaking News:
James Barnett @jh_barnett, a Researcher with Hudson Institute, confirms that majority of the #Alshabaab leaders are from the Isaaq clan “Somaliland!”
We have been telling the world for the past 15 years that AS is a product of Somaliland intended to keep southern Somalia in a perpetual chaos whilst the likes of @EdnaAdan are marketing their secessionist agendas to the western world.

Leaders should have a dream - an aspirational vision of a country that works for the people of the country.
To endure in the long run, a vision has to be inclusive: it has to be accepted by most of the population.
The only thing worse than having no vision is having a bad vision - a vision that harms specific groups or the people as a whole. This is wrong, and it is not viable in the long run.
