It is with great honor that I share our most recent publication, exploring actionability of acquired #PDGFRA fusions in #GBM. We show evidence of clonal sweep after exposure to an #EGFR monoclonal antibody and successful targeting of the newly acquired MDM2-PDGFRA fusion. This emphasizes the importance of repeat #NGS in patients with recurrent #GBM, evolution of #glioblastoma through several rounds of therapy and proactive monitoring and treatment through its evolution. #neurocytology syncytial pattern of meningioma seen on H&E stained smear (squash-prep) due to the interlocking of the interdigitating processes on the cell membranes! Also, noticed the nuclear pseudoinclusions created by invagination of cytoplasm into the irregular nuclear folds!
Our recent article will be featured as Cover Art for the December issue of Journal of Neuroimmunology!
Grateful to my co-authors, and to the patient for allowing us to share his story.

Sometimes glioma cells can be epithelioid and show as single cells. A good smear with nice fibrillary (hairy) processes can be very helpful in distinguishing glioma from other differential diagnosis during frozen sections! #neurocytology#pathology
