I am expecting to have a boy soon. Sometimes I feel nervous when I think about raising a boy and have real conversations with him. Then I see how I am interacting with AI on hourly basis and how I am getting evolved as well as the AI model every hour. Then my nervousness fades!
Today I presented the accepted paper "GoAT: Go Analysis and Testing" at @IiswcO. It is a debugging framework for concurrent #Golang applications.

On July 28th, I successfully defended my PhD dissertation.
I've learned a ton during this chapter of my life.
Many thanks to my advisors Dr. Gopalakrishnan, @rakamaric, Dr. Sundar, @alexander_lex and Dr. Burtscher.
Looking forward to the next chapter: SW Eng. @misorobotics
@bitfield Also true for databases. If you are connecting to a SQL database and use "defer q.Close()" after you are done with the query q, you are screwed! Soon you'll get the "too many connections" error!
I want to containerize (dockerize) my Go project. I want to use my own Go runtime that I modified for tracing purposes. So official Go images for "FROM golang:latest" won't work. Do I have to create my own custom golang image? Any thoughts?

How to write a paper in CS:
While (unsatisfied):
-Read
-{Write}
-Think
-{Write}
-Implement
-{Write}
Read to understand the problem and its history.
Think to propose ideas.
Implement to test ideas.
Always {Write} in between to organize and reflect your mind.

My paper got rejected for its camera-ready version bc of "insufficient alignment with the conference theme" after it initially got accepted.
How would you react to this situation when you were counting on the publication and preparing to defend?

I have submitted a "short paper" as "ongoing work" to a "workshop" and reviewers asked:
- Why did not you evaluate it on large scale?
- Why did not you show a real-world case study?
I would not have submitted a short paper as ongoing work if I had what you asked for.

So true.
In the final days of my PhD, I just started to feel that I have learned the art of "research" and enjoyed spending days and nights on the project until I satisfy with the artwork (and also satisfy conference reviewers! haha)
PhD candidates are like artists.
They are given a small stipend. In return, they get to make anything they like, with (hopefully) few expectations placed upon them, & with guidance from a world expert.
Once I started thinking of my PhD in this way, it became a lot more fun.
A quick thread for PhD admits thinking about potential advisors:
I see a lot of discussion about "hands-on" vs "hands-off" advisors
But I think there are at least 3 underlying dimensions here, each of which is worth considering in its own right:
