The letter from Deputy Commissioner Charsadda exposes the PTI govt's criminal neglect of public health in Pakhtunkhwa.
DHQ Hospital Charsadda serves around 1 million people but has NO CT Scan, NO MRI, NO Cardiac Cath Lab, no specialized diagnostics services, no Gynecology & Obstetrics services
and 88 vacant posts. Patients are being sent to Peshawar while this hospital starves for basics.
This is not governance - this is betrayal of the people of Charsadda and entire Pakhtunkhwa.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari: I demand your immediate explanation. Just now, law enforcement personnel and intelligence officials raided my family home without my knowledge or presence. If this has been carried out under your government, you owe the public an explanation. If it has not, then you have a responsibility to explain who is operating with such impunity in Sindh.
This follows repeated visits to our home over the past week, amounting to a sustained pattern of intimidation and harassment directed at me and my family.
My family home has been empty for the past two days. During that time, police and intelligence personnel have repeatedly come to the property, arriving in approximately fifteen vehicles and harassing my neighbours.
I am placing on public record my grave concern over this unlawful intrusion. Any unauthorized entry into my home raises serious fears about my family’s safety, the integrity of our property, and the possibility that evidence could be planted, surveillance devices installed, or my residence otherwise compromised in an attempt to fabricate allegations against me or malign my name. Given the continued harassment of human rights defenders, these are not abstract fears.
I demand immediate answers. Which agency entered my family’s home? Under whose authority was this operation carried out? Was there any warrant authorizing this raid? If so, it must be produced without delay. If there are any allegations against me, the law provides clear legal procedures. Secretive raids, repeated visits, and unlawful intrusions into my family’s residence are not among them.
My family’s home is not a crime scene. It is not a place where state institutions can enter at will, intimidate our neighbours, or conduct unexplained operations without accountability.
I am also placing this on record: if anything is removed from my family’s home, if anything is later claimed to have been recovered from it, or if any case is built against me on the basis of evidence allegedly found there following today’s illegal intrusion, I will hold the authorities fully responsible. I likewise hold them responsible for my family’s safety, for any damage to our property, and for anything that may subsequently happen to our home as a consequence of today’s unlawful entry.
This video should have been recorded tomorrow, on the seventeenth year of my Father’s enforced disappearance. Instead, I am recording it today because for the last month and as recently as yesterday, I am being threatened with imprisonment. Seventeen years after they disappeared my father, I am still being forced to live in the shadow of the repression that stole him from us.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch is the mirror in which Pakistan's military establishment sees its own ugly face. That is why the generals imprisoned the mirror itself. But Mahrang's resistance has already become an ideology for the people & an ideology cannot be imprisoned.
Yet today, national and international media outlets praise Pakistan for its role in promoting dialogue and reducing tensions between the United States and Iran. And the very state that claims to promote dialogue abroad remains unwilling to have dialogue with peaceful protesters demanding answers about the fate of their missing loved ones.
My mother, who is living the life of a half widow for the last 17 years, watched these reports on television. “My heart aches for Iran. I want its people’s suffering to end,” she said with a sigh. “But if Pakistan is allowed to become the face of peace there, I fear it will keep crushing us here, then smile before the world and say: how can we be oppressors when we are peacemakers?”
Dear Uncle,
Why is every major development project in Pakistan obsessively focused on Punjab? The new M-13 Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway and billions poured into Punjab’s infrastructure, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan continue to struggle with basic connectivity, crumbling roads, and economic neglect.
In any functional country, resources are collected from the more developed regions and deliberately invested in the peripheries so that backward areas can catch up and the entire nation grows together. In Pakistan, it is the exact opposite: Punjab, which is already relatively better off, is being further pampered and modernized at the direct expense of the smaller, struggling provinces.
You can never achieve lasting security and peace through force or rhetoric alone. Without economic justice and balanced development, the sense of deprivation will only deepen.
Five days ago, the Pakistani state sentenced Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Baloch to life imprisonment. It believes that by burying the faces of this movement behind the walls of Hudda Jail, it can crush a nation’s collective hope. It mistook leadership for ownership. It mistook repression for permanence. Most of all, it mistook the Baloch people for a people whose convictions could be exhausted by fear.
Dr. Mahrang understood that the greatest ambition of authoritarian power is not merely to imprison those who speak, but to make everyone else believe that speaking is no longer worth the price. She also understood that movements survive only when they cease to belong to individuals and become the collective responsibility of ordinary people.
The past week has shattered the assumption that this movement could be ended by sentencing two of its leaders to life imprisonment. Across Balochistan and far beyond it, hundreds of thousands have carried forward the very trust she placed in them before the state pronounced its pre-determined verdict. We will continue to prove that what has been built through the sacrifices of our people cannot be dismantled by prison walls or life sentences.
Some speeches are remembered because the oppressor eventually proves that the oppressed were telling the truth all along.

The sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) continues to inspire many people to remain steadfast in the pursuit of truth and justice. It is also a reminder of the enduring power of courage and conviction.
My father, Dr. Deen Muhammad Baloch, a medical officer and political leader was forcibly disappeared by Pakistan’s intelligence agencies.
On 28 June, seventeen years will have passed since his abduction and disappearance.
I appeal to all human rights defenders, journalists, lawyers, political and social activists, families of victims of enforced disappearances, and people from all walks of life to stand in solidarity with my family.
Please participate in this campaign by by using this #ReleaseDrDeenMohammad and by recording and sharing a short video calling for the safe release of my disappeared father, Dr. Deen Muhammad Baloch. Your voice can help keep his case alive and amplify the demand for justice and accountability.
I have received numerous complaints from young doctors across Pakhtunkhwa regarding serious irregularities in the recent recruitment drive.
I strongly urge the Chief Secretary to immediately suspend the entire recruitment process and thoroughly address the concerns raised by the medical community.
Medicine is a noble profession that demands the highest standards of integrity. All doctors must be appointed purely on merit. Any corruption or malpractice in the health sector is criminal, as it puts human lives at direct risk.
Despite falling global oil prices, the government refuses to reduce petroleum prices in Pakistan. This is nothing but sheer insensitivity and cruelty towards the people.
We demand an immediate cut in fuel prices and that the full benefit of lower international rates be passed on to the masses.
Prioritising elite interests and own luxuries over public relief is unacceptable.
BASC strongly condemns the unlawful conviction of BYC leaders and calls on all who believe in justice, human dignity, and the rule of law to stand with Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Baloch, the BYC, and all peaceful human rights defenders. We must send a clear message to those responsible for this oppression: the persecution of peaceful activists will not be tolerated or ignored. @faribabalouch1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) Condemns Shameful Life Sentence for Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shah by Pakistani Authorities
The Hague, The Netherlands – June 23, 2026 – The International Human Rights Foundation (IHRF) expresses its strongest condemnation regarding the reprehensible life sentence handed down by a Pakistani Anti-Terrorism Court to prominent human rights defender Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleague, Sibghatullah Shah .
This verdict is a blatant miscarriage of justice and a devastating blow to the rule of law in Pakistan. Dr. Baloch, a leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has been a fearless and peaceful voice for the Baloch people, courageously campaigning against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and state repression in Balochistan . Her only crime is her dedication to exposing grave human rights violations .
The IHRF is deeply alarmed by the egregious procedural irregularities and denial of due process that characterized this “secret trial” . A proceeding that denies the accused the right to effectively cross-examine witnesses or present a proper defense, held in a “faceless court” on jail premises, cannot be considered a legitimate judicial process . This is not justice; it is a politically motivated weaponization of the judicial system to silence dissent and intimidate human rights defenders .
We echo the calls of Amnesty International and other international bodies, who have condemned this verdict as an affront to the right to a fair trial . The state’s cynical misuse of anti-terrorism laws to prosecute peaceful activism represents a dangerous escalation in the crackdown on fundamental freedoms in Pakistan .
The IHRF urges the Government of Pakistan to immediately and unconditionally release Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shah, and to ensure their safety and well-being.
We call upon the international community, including the United Nations Human Rights Council, to:
1. Denounce this injustice and place Pakistan under close scrutiny for its escalating human rights violations.
2. Demand transparency in all legal proceedings against human rights defenders and a full investigation into the circumstances of this case.
3. Pressure Pakistani authorities to cease the persecution of peaceful activists and uphold their international obligations regarding due process and fundamental rights.
The IHRF stands in solidarity with Dr. Mahrang Baloch, Sibghatullah Shah, and all peaceful activists in Pakistan who risk their lives for justice and human dignity.
