It's been a bit odd going through some of these lesson planning methods.
A lot of the time I have a hard time seeing myself implementing the more student guided ones for high school mathematics, but maybe my time student teaching will help me figure it out.

@KelseyFrey12 At the very least, I can say that my weeks in this pandemic have been hugely varied in quality and even productivity throughout depending on whether or not I take the time to pull together a schedule at the beginning of the week. It's a lot more freeing on breaks too!

I was going through some of the active participation strategies this week and I was actively wondering with things like the snowball or flash cards "How would I modify this in order to make it cover both my learning and language objectives?" #20ed586
@KlorenzenT I agree with this, disseminating truthful information on history is very important in terms of understanding and forming a current identity. A lot of people have trouble accepting that there's almost never such a thing as a guiltless history.

troubles to some degree whilst at my previous job because I did not have close contact with the current victims. It still doesn't particularly sit well with me reading at how much these children are hurt and are willing to hurt others /2

Going through the cyberbullying and "Trauma in the Classroom" assignments in fairly close succession has been pretty hard. Not necessarily difficult in terms of actual brainpower but it's pretty taxing on willpower to know that a lot of the time I was ignoring these /1

@BaileyAnnMcCal1@KelseyFrey12 It's one of those head-scratchers to me that feels almost like a holdover from pre-civil rights era times. I get the feeling that it was almost done to ensure wealth people wouldn't have their tax dollars go to certain less advantaged people. Though my take is cynical.

@KlorenzenT I like to think teaching is part of the solution, I also agree that teaching the material itself is only half the battle.
I definitely remember the teachers who went the extra mile to inject some life lessons and reasoning behind the material into their class better. #20edu586
Currently working on the SIOP, it's interesting to reflect on some ways I can remember some of these methods being used in my classes back in elementary school. The example of writing a letter to a leader about ways to solve a problem is something I remember doing in /1

@courtneymoffa11 I very much like how one of the articles inside addresses how the movement of today differs from the movements of yesteryear, but at the same time a lot of people forget today's BLM criticisms were there for the civil rights movement years ago: https://t.co/7i7kah2Gt6
I ended up reading two works that were sets of poems for my multicultural narrative assignment. After looking through them both and thinking about them at length, I'm rather surprised at how well each of them tells there story and despite being the same format they /1 #20ed586
Writing this paper has been an interesting experience for me. It helps that I did some of the research on my eastern European ancestors for an earlier course, but it's interesting to ruminate about it in terms of how it and being Jewish affect how I think. #20ed586
@BaileyAnnMcCal1 I will do my best to treat the new student as equally to the others as possible. I guess a good thing to do would also be to keep an eye on them to make sure they aren't getting bullied and to see if they need a friend/advocate for them early on. #20ed586
While going through the process of making my audio contribution for assignment 5 in module 2, I was trying to remember whether the more frequent mistake was whether someone would read my name as "SAY-ef" or if it was when someone heard it and spelled it "Safe" #20ed586
@courtneymoffa11 It's definitely a unique and fun way to have a connection with every student. I'm not sure I could pull the same thing off given my physical coordination isn't quite as good. Still, it's food for thought on how one could translate the same feeling into another activity. #20ed586
