More than 100 San Franciscans sign an open letter in support of DA Chesa Boudin’s vision to make SF safer for all.

Crime is not rising, much less soaring or out of control, since Boudin took office. . . And the recall supporters can’t dispute any of this—all they can say is that people “feel” unsafe, which is a Trumpian way of saying that facts and truth don’t matter.

Dede Wilsey appears to have donated $50,000 to the recall effort against SF DA @ChesaBoudin through a front group.
She also hosted a high-dollar fundraiser for Donald Trump last year in SF.
We must stop the right-wing recall effort against Chesa: https://t.co/m3TIdc5bbP

“We must not be fooled – the stakes are too high. We must reject this recall and keep striving for a criminal justice system that everyone can be proud of, not one that benefits solely those with wealth and power.”

“San Franciscans believed in @chesaboudin ‘s goals to end the criminalization of poverty, hold police accountable and focus on solutions that actually help victims and address the root causes of crime.”

"Of all the progressive prosecutors elected in American cities . . . none embodied the hope for criminal-justice reform as perfectly as San Francisco’s Chesa Boudin." https://t.co/36lxnu1fcO
San Francisco voters gave DA @ChesaBoudin a clear mandate to create real public safety.
Despite a global pandemic which closed down the courts, Chesa has moved forward many of his priorities.

It took a movement to elect SF DA @ChesaBoudin in 2019.
Ever since he took office, the police union and wealthy conservatives have been working to overturn his election.
Our movement must #StandWithChesa and defend him from the dishonest recall effort: https://t.co/m3TIdc5bbP
Chinatown today:
SF District Attorney Chesa Boudin announcing the fraud & scam investigation as lots of Chinatown businesses received legal letters regarding the alleged Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) violations.
“We will stand with our small businesses.” Boudin said.
“These reforms were desperately needed: disproportionate treatment of Black & Brown people in arrests, prosecutions, & lifetimes of incarceration isn't just a trend of a few decades — it has taken place over centuries in America.”
From @BevanDufty
“Boudin ran on an agenda for criminal justice reform coupled with common sense policies that reduce crime. And the voters of San Francisco gave him a clear mandate to advance this work.”
SF's largest mental health facility is the county jail.
We need a better approach.
Join us for a conversation on effective public health responses to our behavioral health crisis.
"The trouble is that perceptions of crime can be harnessed for political advantage and policy changes, most of which have tended to further expand that criminal justice system whether or not it has the desired effect of preventing crime." https://t.co/fq45Tv2O6l
As San Francisco DA, @ChesaBoudin has worked to end gun violence.
His new program will help take guns out of the hands of people who are a threat to themselves or others.

Throughout COVID, app-based workers risked exposure to keep us safe & fed.
By illegally misclassifying workers, companies deprive them of basic protections: minimum wage, sick leave & overtime.
To protect workers & enforce state law, we filed a civil action against Doordash.
“We know that regardless of what happens with policing and prosecution and punishment, victims have real needs ... Hurt people hurt people.” @chesaboudin speaks on the cycles of harm caused by the failure of public safety systems to adequately support victims.
If you believe right-wing politicians and some viral videos, you’d think San Francisco was a crime-riddled city. Mayor Breed and SFPD Chief Scott are pushing back on that.
Reporter @meganrcassidy digs into the crime stats with @CeeLei.

Mayor London Breed and Police Chief Bill Scott announced today that most crime is actually trending down in San Francisco. However, the SFPD's clearance rate for resolving crimes and apprehending offenders is still very low - as it's always been.

@aljfish@noUpside @GeorgeGascon And quite a bit of info is published to the DA’s website, including pretty thorough explanations of policy decisions.
This is a good place to start, if you are looking for info on how Boudin is changing approach:
