Non-binary genders are any gender identity that isn’t covered in the Western idea of woman (girl) and man (boy). This identity has nothing to do with which chromosomes or sexual organs a person has.
People whose gender is not male or female use many different terms to describe themselves, with non-binary being one of the most common. Other terms include genderqueer, agender, bigender, and more.
𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗘 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿!
One of the most influential person in the community was 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮 𝗣. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻, a person of color, a drag queen, and an LGBTQ+ rights activist who spearheaded the Stonewall Uprising in 1969.
Her body was cremated, and her ashes were scattered over Hudson River. After the funeral, a series of demonstrations and marches to the police precinct took place, to demand justice for Johnson.
