Voice actors, especially newer ones:
It's okay to go at your own pace. Your life should always come first, especially if you're doing a lot of unpaid work.
When VO work takes a backseat, sometimes it can feel stressful to see the amazing work that your peers are announcing and celebrating. Even if you support them 100%, don't fall into the trap of comparing them to yourself.
I was sick for all of January and most of Feb - all while searching for a full-time job as a new college grad, readjusting to life at home, and trying to maintain my sanity as project deadlines crept closer and closer. Even now, I'm still catching up on the huge backlog of projects that this created for me, and sometimes doing anything else BESIDES recording stresses me out because of it.
Nobody goes through the same thing at the same time. Your colleagues celebrating roles on Twitter right now have all had their own roadblocks, just like I do now. The VA community on Twitter genuinely has some of the most positive and uplifting people I have seen on this website - No one is going to shame you for not being able to dedicate your everyday life to this craft.
If you don't take proper care of yourself, you won't be able to perform the way you deserve to. Talk with your directors - they will understand as long as you're clear and communicative. If you're on hiatus or out of commission, you will eventually get back on your feet and it will be your turn to showcase your talent.
This post was absolutely a reminder for myself, but I'm certain I'm not the first and won't be the last. Do what you can, and be kind to yourself.
I've received DMs from AbbyRoads94 in the past and he came off as unprofessional. He would follow me to ask me to voice in a project, to which I turned down, and then would unfollow me and refollow me to ask again. I'd avoid this person.
Don't audition just to audition. If the role doesn't excite you, skip it. Auditioning for *everything* is the quickest way to burn yourself out. There's plenty of other casting calls, not any one of them is a make or break deal. Save for extreme circumstances
New VAs, if you haven't changed your instagram algorithm to voice acting yet, do it. You'll find casting calls, duet voice acting invites/challenges, and some work of awesome voice actors. It's awesome all around for voicing practice, more auditions, and inspiration/learning
The Cleveland Guardians are calling up former No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana, sources tell ESPN. Bazzana, 23, hit .287/.422/.511 in 24 Triple-A games this season and will take over at second base for a Guardians team that's a half-game back of first in the AL Central.
