Wound debridement in calciphylaxis is controversial. New paper by @Jgoverman1 et al highlights that in some patients debridement +/- skin graft may offer substantial benefits. Much to learn! Until then consult with an experienced surgeon is a way to go. https://t.co/bCAZf8VkAH
@TeamTubule@kidney_boy Will be interesting to see comparison of baseline characteristics between those who normalized sodium by discharge vs. those who did not.
@kidney_boy Of course, as a post hoc finding, this is hypothesis generating and not confirmatory but does bolster a suggestion that correcting sodium to normal may offer clinical meaningful benefit.
@kidney_boy One of the interesting findings in this study is that patients who reached normal sodium at discharge (irrespective of assigned treatment group) had lower mortality and/or rehospitalization compared to those who did not.
