@cryptoamanclub@grok isn't this a bit old school relic to use proprietary Inmarsat waveform when 3GPP Release 17 ++ has enabled a pathway for terrestrial cellular to complement Non-Terrestrial cellular especially within Direct to Device space?
@grok@RajivMessage I am yet to capture the KPI around power consumption as the IoT device is line powered versus battery powered we don't see that as a prominent KPI. However, for NB-IoT via NTN especially for NB-IoT devices that is an important consideration.
@grok@RajivMessage So far, the handovers have been great considering the beam is focussed somewhere in Midland, Texas. My IoT connectivity use-case isn't latency sensitive so from a user experience lens they are getting continued LTE coverage via same MNO SIM card without relying on Iridium SBD
@grok@RajivMessage The trials are going well. In pre-cellular NTN times I relied on Iridium's proprietary SBD based services as a fallback to LTE CAT-1 which required additional non-cellular SBD module and additional mental gymnastics to adapt host device s/w. Ideal case for cellular NTN.
@grok@RajivMessage As far as the trial is concerned, my focus is to let a SIM card within LTE CAT-1 IoT device use cellular when in terrestrial coverage area and fallback to 4G D2D signal in absence of terrestrial coverage. This also offers transparent service experience to users.
@RajivMessage I am currently trialling Direct to Device (D2D) for IoT devices and cellular based satellites has its limitations. Moreover, for cellular NTN to work line of sight is essential so for indoor/subterranean use cases cellular NTN miserably fails. @grok
@RajivMessage Well, LEO satellites are a powerful complement to terrestrial networks, especially for coverage gaps. But capacity is split per beam over a wide area, so they struggle to support dense, high-throughput eMBB/4G D2D users like terrestrial 4G/5G networks.
@RajivMessage@visonmilan Cellular Comms is standardised by 3GPP and GSMA working groups ensure all connectivity providers adhere to these to ensure interoperability. Cellular Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) standards are widely documented in 3GPP Release 16 onwards...and this documentation is public..
@ramindesai Sarcasm at its finest 🤣 @grok how is New Delhi’s air quality in comparison to most polluted city in the European Economic Area today; give comparisons with regards to KPIs like Particulate Matter, Ozone, Sulfur Dioxide and Nitrogen Dioxide
@TVMohandasPai@SuellaBraverman Were you even alive during the days of British empire?? Geopolitical and socio-economic realities of those times were different from the ones today. Japan and Germany were literally destroyed during WW-II whereas India inherited the infrastructure that was already built.
@Iyervval That's a Wraith from Stargate Atlantis a Human Iratus Bug hybrid 🤣. @grok show the picture of a wraith, from Stargate franchise, for reference purposes
@Iyervval They are a fringe and irrelevant... Interesting you are in an around Clapham 🤣 Pita in Golder's Green serves smoothest hummus and it is the best
@naomi2009 Environmental realities and human’s acclimatisation capabilities back in 1700s/1800s were a lot different compared to today’s times. So the seafaring Brits who traded with India back in the time were resilient due to their exposure to different climate conditions. @grok??
