Again, I’m seeing a lot about Canada joining the EU. Let me tell you AGAIN why Canada will NEVER join the EU (and why most Canadians have no idea)…

Look, a lot of Canadians see the EU and think it sounds nice: strong social programs, easy travel, a big economic bloc, NOT Trump’s America. Some polls even suggest a surprising chunk of us are open to “closer ties” or even open to the idea of joining. But here’s the part almost nobody talks about… and it’s a total deal-breaker:

Joining the EU would make our legislatures and courts - federal AND provincial - legally subordinate to Brussels.

That’s not opinion. That’s how the EU actually works:

- EU law has supremacy over Canadian law. Every single federal statute and every provincial law in areas covered by the EU (trade, environment, agriculture, labour standards, immigration policy, consumer rights, data rules, you name it) would have to give way to theirs.
- Our courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, would be required to follow rulings from the European Court of Justice. If Strasbourg or Luxembourg says a Canadian law is incompatible with EU rules (and they would!), it gets struck down or rewritten.
- BOTH Ottawa and the provinces would lose the final say in huge swaths of public policy. Quebec’s language laws, Alberta’s energy rules, Ontario’s manufacturing standards- all of it would sit underneath EU directives and regulations we didn’t write and can’t easily change.

For god’s sake, the western province demanded the Notwithstanding Clause in the charter precisely so unelected judges would not have this kind of power and you think 10 provinces- who never agree to anything- would agree to this???

Give your heads a shake.

Canada is a sovereign federation with a written Constitution and a clear division of powers between federal and provincial governments. EU membership demands you hand over that sovereignty as the price of entry. You don’t get to cherry-pick. You accept the entire “acquis communautaire- over 100,000 pages of law- and you accept that future changes are decided in Brussels, not here.

That’s why it will never happen. Never never NEVER. Not in a million years.

Most Canadians who say they’re “open” to it simply don’t know this part. They see the glossy brochure- more trade, less America, free movement, student exchanges, the eurozone glamour- and miss the fine print that says “your parliament and your courts will no longer be the highest authority in your own country.”

We already have our own country. We don’t need to become a distant province of Europe. Sovereignty isn’t for sale, even if the sales pitch sounds friendly. 🇨🇦

The hypocrisy is obvious: Carney tells Canadians that they may have to go broke in an economic war with the United States but he will not take that risk himself.

Over 90% of his own capital sits in American investments. He would not dare risk transferring his own capital investments to Canada. Yet he is willing to risk Canadian tax dollars including their pensions.

His children prefer America, not socialist Canada, with socialized medicine, a decade of Liberal stagnation, and 45% of the Canadian population nearly 1st or 2nd generation immigrant.

Meanwhile, Carney is still dragging the country down the same green grift energy path & globalist policies, even as Europe votes in center-right govt's that are rejecting those & adopting more nationalist economic policies.

There’s an arrogance in Canada that I’ve grown tired of.

This constant attitude that somehow we’re morally superior to Americans. That we’re smarter, kinder, more civilized — simply because we’re Canadian.

It’s pompous. And frankly, it’s embarrassing.

America isn’t perfect. Neither is Canada.

But Americans openly celebrate their country, defend their freedoms, reward ambition and actually debate what their nation stands for.

Meanwhile, too much of Canadian identity has become:

“At least we’re not American.”

That’s not an identity. That’s insecurity disguised as superiority.

What exactly do we stand for anymore?

Being Canadian should mean something more than looking down our noses at the people next door.

I want a Canada that earns our pride — not one that assumes it.

Canada has much more immigrants than we do as a percent of its population. We (America) have an all-time high of about 16% of the population.

Right now, Canada has about 26% or 27% of its population that is immigrants. And when you add second-generation immigrants, about 7 million, and you add visa holders, who are not Canadian citizens but residents, you're getting close to 45% of the population was not born in Canada, or their parents were not born in Canada.

When you add that with a very sluggish economy, and people coming from largely Asia, India, China and Latin American countries, they have a lot of very poor people in dire need of social services in a stagnant economy that cannot support it."

I think Canadians really need to understand this message.

Trump is not Canada's problem. Trump is the straw that broke Canada's back

Canada's issues stem from decades of mismanagement across all of our governments.

- We have internal trade barriers worse than the tariffs we get from external countries.
- We have limited supply chain routes across our country.
- We've never diversified our export markets.
- We have heavy regulation stopping us from building or extending permitting times essentially indefinitely.
- Our bureaucracy is expanding while our services are diminishing.
- We spend taxpayer money without accountability or outcome-driven plans.
- We think we're morally superior to the rest of the world.

Canada can be fixed, 100%. I believe that but it would take us actually looking inside of ourselves and realizing that we need to change how we govern/manage our country and the vast (unrealized) wealth we have.

I’m supposed to perform the obligatory little ritual now and pretend both versions of this trade debacle deserve equal credibility.

I don’t... I believe the Americans.

Not because they’re American. Not because politicians suddenly became trustworthy. And certainly not because Donald Trump has been canonized.

I believe them because the American account increasingly makes more sense.

Greer, Lutnick and Bessent have spoken openly and specifically about what happened. Their accounts have been remarkably consistent. They can discuss the negotiations like people who were actually involved in them, without appearing terrified that an unsupervised adjective might escape and without a teleprompter.

Meanwhile, what do Canadians get from our own government?

Carefully sterilized language. Vague explanations. Missing specifics. Scripted talking points. Every sentence apparently passed through enough communications people and lawyers to remove any detectable trace of information.

We’re being kept in the dark like bloody mushrooms while learning more about Canada’s own trade negotiations from American officials and American media than from the Canadian government supposedly representing us.

And somehow we’re not supposed to notice how politically convenient the Canadian version is.

We got:
👉🏻 Trump was unreasonable.
👉🏻 Trump changed the deal.
👉🏻 Trump threatened our sovereignty.
👉🏻 Trump forced Canada to walk away.

Trump. Trump. Trump.

Just keep Canadians sufficiently pissed off at Donald Trump and perhaps nobody asks the considerably more inconvenient question:

❓️ What exactly did Mark Carney walk away from, and why?

Because after the Gordie Howe Bridge fiasco, I’m fresh out of complimentary benefit of the doubt.

And here’s the part that absolutely reeks, discrediting any appearance of truth told by the liar in chief #MarkCarney...

If Carney possesses documentary evidence proving Trump suddenly dumped outrageous, unacceptable demands onto Canada at the eleventh hour, where the hell is it?

Seriously.

Think about what that evidence would be worth politically.

IF Carney had a piece of paper proving Donald Trump screwed Canada, blindsided our negotiators and forced our heroic prime minister to stand up, pound the table and walk away, the Liberal machine wouldn’t quietly tuck that document into a filing cabinet.

Are you kidding me?

▪︎ They’d wallpaper Ottawa with the damn thing.

▪︎ They’d hold press conferences about it.

▪︎ They’d wave it around in Parliament.

▪︎ They’d quote it in fundraising emails.

▪︎ They’d buy ads with it.

Every friendly pundit in the country would have a laminated copy by breakfast. CBC would probably commission a twelve-part documentary and an interpretive dance.

It would be political rocket fuel.
Carney could point directly at the evidence and say, See? I stood up to Trump.

And considering how desperately this government wants Canadians angry at Trump, they would squeeze every last political drop out of it.

Instead, we get:

- Words.
- Trust us.
- Trump did it.
- Don't worry about the details.
- Just keep your elbows up and direct your anger toward the orange man south of the border.

How extraordinarily convenient.

And while Canada spends years shrieking about foreign interference, demanding security clearances for opposition leaders and warning us about other countries trying to influence Canadian politics, Canadian politicians seem remarkably comfortable inserting themselves into American partisan politics.

Apparently foreign political influence is a mortal threat to democracy when it crosses the border heading north.

Heading south?
Nothing to see here, carry on.
So enough of the carefully packaged Liberal bullshit.

Release the negotiating documents.

• Show Canadians the American demands.
• Show us Canada's demands.
• Show us what changed.
• Show us when it changed.
• Show us exactly what was sitting on that table when Canada walked away.

Because if those documents prove Carney's story, his government has every political incentive imaginable to release them, and its quite odd that they haven't.

Their continued absence doesn't prove he's lying, but it sure does suggest it!

And considering the Americans are providing details while our own government feeds us verbal oatmeal, it sure as hell gives Canadians a reason to stop swallowing everything we're spoon-fed.

Mark Carney isn't an oracle. He isn't our father. And Canadians aren't intellectually deficient children who need the PMO to decide which facts we're mature enough to see.

Stop telling us whom to hate.
Show us what happened.
Then we'll decide for ourselves who is full of shit.

Peter MacKay is correct.
The very reason they haven’t released the details of the deal Carney walked away from is because it will expose the truth. Carney made up the reasons to walk away. He never wanted a deal.
The entire event of him cancelling it including his press conference seemed over the top and ridiculous, that’s what you do when you are trying to play people for fools.

The two represent either side of the same coin: while Starmer's dour legalism represented the underlying mechanics of the British state in all its brute force (the man was never more at home than when clamping down furiously on dissenting speech), Burnham is the smiling, matey facade that that state presents to the public; the tie-less, "call me Andy" school teacher who sits on a chair backwards to explain how he "gets it".

But while Starmer included in his team some people who did recognise the priorities of the British working class, for example Morgan McSweeney, Burnham has swept to power on the back of the worst instincts of the already spectacularly inept Parliamentary Labour Party; a gang of charity-sector charlatans so clueless about the real world that they'd be more at home in a playschool.

We must prepare for a very rough couple of years with this man at the helm. The world is rapidly becoming more dangerous, Britain is exposed and our enemies know it. The one possible silver lining we can take is that when Andy Burnham fails, perhaps the public will finally realise that that failure will not just be his own, but the failure of the entire Labour Party.
