PMC COVlD Update, Oct 5, 2026
(🧵1/5)
◾️Levels peaked at ≈610,000 estimated new daily infections in mid Sep
◾️36 states still with known outbreaks
◾️13th COVlD wave
Details:
The US has at least 36 states and territories with COVlD outbreaks. The apparent wave peak has passed, but transmission remains high across much of the country. States with observed outbreaks include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Hawai'i, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming. There are likely outbreaks in additional states. The summary statistic only includes counties with observed data, rather than estimated data. For example, Arkansas, DC, Idaho, Louisiana, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Wisconsin likely have outbreaks, but monitoring is poor.
Use Layered COVlD Safety:
◾️Get boosted ASAP, especially if high transmission nearby. Novavax has a lower side effect profile than other boosters and comparable effectiveness.
◾️Mask up with a well-fitting N95 respirator.
◾️Improve air hygiene: Open windows, flip the HVAC from auto to on, shut off the car's recirculation 'feature,' add air purifiers, and / or use air quality monitors.
◾️Test daily when sick, exposed, or gathering, and stay home when sick.
◾️Monitor your blood pressure to reduce the risk of surprise post-acute cardiovascular sequelae.
◾️Spread accurate information by sending dashboard screenshots to family, checking the public health credentials and experience of information sources, and avoiding sharing 'miracle' interventions.
A new Dutch study in BMJ Open 2025 followed people 2 years after COVID-19.
Even among those never hospitalized, 43% still had persistent symptoms.
This is a massive population-level impact.🧵
🚨 Disability is rising.
🚨 School absence due to illness is rising.
🚨 Workplace absence due to illness is rising.
🚨Over 400k studies say Covid is very bad for our health. Even mild infections.
So why are authorities ignoring that? How bad does it have to get?!
#LongCovid
It took 7-10 years for people with HIV to develop AIDS. Those infected with SARS-COV2 can see immune system damage, including lymphocytopenia, in the first month. I am not advocating for calling the condition "airborne AIDS" as this article does, but acknowledging the acquired immune deficiency that results from COVID with a medically correct name, which distinguishes the viral cause: CoV-AIDS. I have experienced T and B cell deficiency and dysfunction as a result of COVID. To say that only "some" will experience immune deficiency is minimizing, as you have no idea what the consequences will be long-term or with repeated infections. People with LC and the public need to be aware that CoV-AIDS is occurring. To reduce a severe outcome to "some" because a condition hadn't been studied thoroughly yet was a mistake made early in the HIV-AIDS pandemic as well, as all eventually did become sick. It was simply too soon to know when the papers wrote their stories, optimistic that some would survive HIV, publishing percentages of survival rates.
To contrast for posterity, here is Sick Times quote saying the risk "persistent lymphopenia" from COVID isn't significant, versus my lymphocytes subsets counts before (2019) and after COVID (2020), and my lymphocytes blastogenesis panel performed March 2024. My counts dropped by 30-50%, and my T cells no longer respond to infectious antigens.
“It started as a respiratory illness – or so everyone thought. But it quickly became apparent that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, was so much more”
We desperately need more reporting like this making it crystal clear that Covid is not “just” a respiratory virus.
My local colleagues the same age as me going the same places doing the same things as me have caught Covid half a dozen times now and have been off ill for months in total.
I've not been off sick in five years.
The difference between them and me?

COVID IS AIRBORNE
Living healthy in an unhealthy world is an act of rebellion.
-Say no to food designed to keep you addicted.
-Say no to stress that eats away at your health.
-Say no to habits that leave you burned out.
In a chaotic world, health is your anchor.
