At a point I was almost 24 hours off social media for medical reasons and I want to say God punish the Nigerian leaders since independence who have selfishly governed and held Nigeria back on development. Whether in the Judiciary, legislature or executive.
"She was a warrior; she stood firm in the days of pain. She went through it with strength; she didn't let it define her life. Zeenat died of sickle cell complications." Actor Saidi Balogun and his family honoured his late daughter on the occasion of her posthumous birthday.
In a video posted on Instagram by Saidi’s son, Khalid, friends and the family spoke warmly about Zeenat, remembering her life and the strength she showed during her struggles.
Khalid’s caption read: “We only die when we are forgotten. Today, the Balogun family remembers and celebrates the life of our beloved firstborn, Zeenat Balogun, on her posthumous birthday. Though the challenges of Sickle Cell Anaemia marked her journey, she faced every battle with remarkable strength, courage, and grace, leaving behind memories that continue to inspire us every day.”
The tribute also highlighted the importance of raising awareness about Sickle Cell Anaemia, as the family linked Zeenat’s remembrance to World Sickle Cell Day.
Khalid added: “As we honour her birthday, we also commemorate World Sickle Cell Day through this tribute video—raising awareness, celebrating resilience, and remembering the countless warriors fighting this condition. Zeenat may no longer be with us physically, but her love, light, and legacy remain forever alive in our hearts.”

Former Nigerian oil minister Diezani Alison-Madueke was on Wednesday found not guilty by a London jury of six bribery charges, after a rare corruption trial of a high-profile former energy official.
Alison-Madueke, minister for petroleum resources between 2010 and 2015 under then-president Goodluck Jonathan, stood trial charged with five counts of accepting bribes and a charge of conspiracy to commit bribery, which she denied.
Prosecutors alleged Alison-Madueke, 65, was given "a life of luxury" in London from oil and gas industry figures seeking lucrative contracts in Nigeria, which has long grappled with mismanagement and corruption.
But the former minister, who was also briefly president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, said she never took any bribes and had no real influence over the awarding of lucrative government contracts.
After a trial at London's Southwark Crown Court, Alison-Madueke was acquitted by a jury of all six charges she faced after more than 46 hours of deliberation.
The not guilty verdicts are a major blow to British authorities, which began their investigation into corruption allegations against Alison-Madueke more than a decade ago.
Alison-Madueke stood trial alongside oil industry executive Olatimbo Ayinde, 54, who was charged with one count of bribery relating to Alison-Madueke and a separate count of bribery of a foreign public official.
Alison-Madueke's brother Doye Agama, 69, was charged with conspiracy to commit bribery with his sister relating to payments made to Agama's church.
Both Ayinde and Agama denied the charges against them and were also acquitted by the jury.
When i travel abroad, I always want to compare in terms of minimum wage, cost of living, state of governance & all.
Cos if a below average person abroad can eat chicken or turkey with less than $5 (less than N10K) why can we have that in Nigeria?
Our disposable income is POOR in this country.
