The Olodo Uprising found a comfortable home in the music industry, especially Afrobeats and Hip Hop.

Today, artistry is too often measured by streams, trends and fanbase size rather than by the quality of the craft.
We celebrate songs with catchy danceable hooks but overlook the depth of songwriting, lyrical brilliance, storytelling and vocal excellence.

Sadly, artists who challenge listeners with intelligent writing are often dismissed as “too difficult to understand” or “not relatable,” while mediocrity is embraced because it’s easy to consume.

True lyricists and vocalists deserve far more recognition than they currently receive.
Great music should not only entertain; it should educate, inspire, provoke thought, heal emotions or tell stories that reflect our realities.

Listen closely to the works of genuine lyricists and you’ll always find something to take home, whether it’s social commentary, emotional wisdom, cultural preservation or lessons drawn from everyday life.
That’s what makes music an art, not just a product.

Our existence itself is an art. It’s time we started giving flowers to those who are keeping the culture alive through exceptional penmanship, substance and authentic creativity.

From Modo to MI Abaga, Vector to Olamide, Jesse Jagz to Reminisce, AQ to Falz, Davolee to Kabex, Brymo to Asa to mention a few.
These are artists who have consistently demonstrated that music can entertain while still carrying meaning.

Let’s celebrate substance as much as we celebrate popularity.
