The more I grow, the less I want to speak on things fr.
there is nothing that can be known fr. Everything is faith and intuition. Even that statement is ????
Contrary to online beliefs, anger is a valid feeling. Being upset, annoyed, irritated, confused, disappointed, disgusted are valid feelings. Pretending like these feelings are “bad” is not “emotional maturity”.
I used to think polyamory was this higher level concept, a symbol of emotional maturity & all that hippie bullshit. Then I realized it’s nothing to w/ polyamory but everything to do w/ having a healthy mentality towards relationships in general, regardless of lifestyle preference
It’s not about “healthy monogamy” it’s just healthy—all of it . Because these same toxic traits (like, preventing certain connections) can be found in a person who’s poly as well. I feel we put too much meat into our definitions of polyamory and monogamy. I think it’s simple.
My main issue is that most people try to associate certain characteristics to polyamory that are actually simply, just characteristics of a healthy mentality towards dealing with the complexity of the human experience. Monogamous people can also have those characteristics.
I do think that healthy monogamy is possible if a person genuinely wants to have one love only, rather than because they want their partner to forsake all others for them to feel secure, and gives their partner the freedom to explore deep, meaningful, platonic love without fear.
I don’t know why y’all feel like you have to lie about or cover up having feelings for someone else. Some things don’t need to be said, sure. But if you’re choosing to stay with the person you’re with because you’re monogamous. That’s perfectly fine.
Y’all do too much.
One thing I will say is that when I was poly, it helped me define conditions clearly and understand just how many things are assumed in monogamous relationships that probably should be defined as well.
It’s literally the same thing. Micro-cheating is a result of breaking certain , usually unspoken, rules, boundaries etc. the actual difference is, in monogamy we don’t have to discuss certain things before hand, we just assume. It boils down to each person’s mentality
Infidelity is defined differently in polyamory - it’s about crossing boundaries and breaking agreements, which are individual to the relationship. In monogamy, infidelity is defined more vaguely, and there are degrees to it, to the point where terms like “micro-cheating” exist.
Do we agree on what we consider cheating? I personally consider you a poopoo head if we have conversations about what’s not okay, and then you go ahead and still do it. Doo. Doo. Head.
Tbh, I really feel like y’all do too much. lmao this is why I have to tell people I treat my monogamous relationships with a polyamorous mindset. Being able to trust you is all that matters. Y’all act like shit like this don’t happen in Poly relationships and it does.
With monogamy comes the threat of infidelity, and monogamous people do everything they can to prevent this from happening. Sometimes this is done in extreme and controlling ways, but there are also subtler methods of policing behaviour to limit connection with others.
It’s like polys are determined to vilify monogamy bc of whatever imagined threat to the legitimacy of their lifestyle that y’all feel a compulsion to produce these generalized, thus inaccurate judgements based on a handful of experiences. It’s giving intellectually irresponsible.
