العثور على شابة باكستانية معلقة على شجرة قرب سوق الأحد في إسلام أباد، اتضح لاحقاً أنها انتحرت بسبب عملية نصب ضخمة.

الشابة التي تُدعى "لايبة إعجاز" 21 عام، كانت تحلم بمواصلة دراسة الماجستير في الولايات المتحدة، ومساعدة والدها الذي يعاني من حالة مادية صعبة بسبب عمله البسيط كبائع حليب متجول وتريد الشهادة من أجل العمل والراتب العالي لدعم الأسرة.

لايبة خريجة بكالوريوس قسم الفيزياء من الجامعة الإسلامية الدولية وحائزة على الميدالية الذهبية.

اتصلت لايبة باستشاري هجرة من أجل البحث عن قبول في جامعة هارفارد فطلب منها 7 ملايين روبية باكستانية (نحو 95,000 ريال) وذلك لتأمين القبول والمنحة.

والدها الذي تعيش معه في شقة مستأجرة، اضطر لبيع قطعة أرض بمبلغ 2.1 مليون روبية ورهنت أمها مجوهراتها في البنك لتغطية المبلغ المتبقي.

دفعت لايبة كامل المبالغ لاستشاري الهجرة الذي سلمها الأوراق المختومة وكانت سعيدة للغاية بتحقيق حلمها، لكن عندما راسلت الجامعة من أجل القبول والسفر، تبين أن الوثائق مزيفة بالكامل.

لايبة أرسلت رسالة أخيرة إلى خالها قالت فيها:
لا تخبر أبي بالاحتيال الذي وقع عليّ، إن علم فسيموت.

غادرت لايبة المنزل لكنها لم تعد وبعد البحث عنها وجدوها منتحرة على جذع شجرة.

A state university belongs to the state that established and funds it. Naturally, indigenes of that state should have an easier pathway to accessing the opportunities and resources provided by the institution than outsiders.

That is also why it is perfectly reasonable for indigenes to have a lower cutoff mark or receive some form of admission preference. It does not automatically make the policy tribalistic.

Think of it this way: when you have limited resources to share, it is natural to prioritize those closest to you, your siblings, family, or community before extending those resources to others.
