@Sandrabthegreat @edavidsonhed I agree it is always important to have a backup plan especially when there is such little chance of going pro #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
There is a very small percentage that college athletes will go pro after college. It is imperative that they get the proper help with career planning just in case they need something to fall back on. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@EmilieMeza4 @edavidsonhed I agree, it is completely ridiculous that someone wouldn't have the right to their OWN image and doesn't receive the benefits from it. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Student-athletes have very little to no control over both their academic and athletic careers. The NCAA uses its control over the lives of student-athletes for their own benefit regardless of its effects on them. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@edie_carranza @edavidsonhed Title IX has done a lot in helping gender equity but in terms of leadership positions, women are really underrepresented. #educ50 @edavidsonhed
While Title IX has helped increase women's participation in sports, there is still much work to be done in evening out the large gender imbalance in athletic leadership positions. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@EmilieMeza4 @edavidsonhed I agree! These interactions are key to creating more supportive environments where everyone can feel safe and comfortable #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Diversity within sports is crucial to creating a more positive climate/environment. It is important for athletes to interact and connect with others outside their race in order to better understand one another #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@Alexisr162 @edavidsonhed I agree! Because of these low standards and expectations, I feel like student-athletes aren't given a fair opportunity to showcase any academic talents #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Considering the fact that student-athletes are pressured into prioritizing athletics, it is absolutely terrible that they automatically get labeled as "inept" or "stupid" #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@EmilieMeza4 @edavidsonhed I completely agree, they are given very little chance to equally succeed in both sports and academics. Instead they must choose one or the other #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Student athletes are pressured to perform well and create an equal balance in both sports and academics but realistically are being forced to sacrifice one in favor of the other #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
@kkaitlyn_lam @edavidsonhed I agree it is completely unfair that student athletes put in so much effort yet coaches are the ones that are being compensated instead. #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
I find it very unfair that coaches are so highly compensated when student athletes put in so much effort to generate revenue/publicity. Is the money that goes towards things like equipment really enough to be considered compensation in comparison? #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
Student athletes generate lots of revenue and publicity. They deserve to be fairly compensated due to all the hard work and sacrifices they make #ucr50 @edavidsonhed
