The marketing funnel didn't get shorter.
It got invisible.

Ads → Clicks → Browsing → Retargeting → Checkout
to:
Ask → Compare → Buy.
And that changes what brands need to optimize for.

AI recommendations aren't random.
There's a reason some brands keep getting recommended while others disappear.

I'm mapping this by category through Q2.
If you run an ecommerce brand and you're thinking about AEO, my DMs are open. Happy to trade notes on what's actually working right now.
SEO doesn't win AI shopping.
We tested 10,000 prompts. Backlinks correlated r=0.2 with ChatGPT citations.
Third-party mentions correlated r=0.5.
Google rewards your site. AI rewards what other sites say about you.
One more wrinkle: the models don't agree.

ChatGPT leans Wikipedia + narrow editors. Perplexity leans Reddit + recency. Gemini cites more Google properties. Claude prefers independents.
A dentist in Lahore has 400 five-star⭐ reviews and is completely invisible to ChatGPT.
His patients are starting to ask AI for recommendations instead of Googling.
He's losing customers he doesn't even know he had a chance to win.
Here's how to fix it 🧵
I wrote the full playbook — 4,000 words, every layer, every realistic timeline, every risk.
Specifically for single-location service businesses (dentists, derms, lawyers, accountants) — not SaaS, not e-commerce.
