After seeing this video, I have some theories.

1. Older generations marriages that lasted for decades doesn’t mean they are good marriages, some of them lasted cos our grandmothers and mothers accepted lot of nonsense from their husbands.

2. That marriage lasted for years, doesn’t necessarily mean it was/is great.

3. Some of our grandmothers and mothers are one of the reasons some ladies of today see marriage as do or die affairs, some of them will rather d!e than exit the marriage.

4. When you hear men say things like “I want a wife like my mom” it doesn’t necessarily means their moms are great wives, most times, it means “I want a wife that will accept nonsense from me, the way my mom accepted nonsense from my dad”.

5. In conclusion, make nobody use our parents marriage as yardstick for how marriage should be in this generation, their time don go, this is our time, yoruba people will say “Aṣọ ìgbà làá ndá fún ìgbà” literal meaning be say “na how generation be you go handle it affairs”.
