When Ukraine agreed to give up nuclear weapons, the price that the other side had to pay had to be fair. I think NATO membership was the smallest thing leaders of Ukraine had to get in exchange for the nuclear arms. What did we get? Nothing. It was not a fair game, and a big mistake.

Not only a Ukrainian mistake, but also a mistake by other signatories of the Budapest Memorandum. These are nuclear countries. If they asked you to give up nuclear weapons, they should have provided you with a security umbrella. Perhaps a nuclear umbrella.

Ultimately, all of it was a deception. Our nuclear weapons were largely transferred to Russia. For example, strategic aircraft that Russia now uses against us in this war.

On this day in history, Russians began a three day operation that would be the largest mass deportation operation of the dark Soviet era, with the forced deportations of over 90,000 people from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia to the far reaches of Siberia, where many eventually died in labor camps.

Russians even gave the operation a colorful name - Operation "Priboi" (Operation "Tidal Wave").

Moscow's intent in the Baltics in 1949 was the same as we see today in Ukraine—the destruction of national identity, the severing of family bonds and centuries of tradition, replacing it with "Russia".

Only this week, the Russian dictator signed a decree mandating that residents of the occupied areas of Ukraine must accept Russian passports or face deportation.

Different century. Same crimes. Same Russia.

Together with the First Lady @ZelenskaUA, I am on an official visit to our friends and principled allies—Finland.

Meetings will be held with President Alexander Stubb and First Lady Suzanne Innes-Stubb, Speaker Jussi Halla-aho and members of Parliament, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, government officials, and representatives of defense companies.

Key topics include defense support, investment in Ukrainian weapons production, and Ukraine's European integration, the Finnish expertise in developing a civil defense system and constructing shelters, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and coordinating efforts to bring the war to a just end. Europe must be at the negotiating table, and everything related to Europe's security should be decided together with Europe.

The First Lady’s program focuses on educational cooperation: expanding the Coalition of Ukrainian Studies, ensuring the security of educational spaces, arranging school shelters, and exchanging expertise on the school feeding system in Finland. There will be meetings with business leaders, philanthropists and representatives of the cultural community.

Yesterday, JD Vance complained that his 3-year-old daughter was scared by a group of protesters shouting “Slava Ukraini.” He even went so far as to call some of them “sh*t.”

The hypocrisy in his statement is staggering. His and Trump’s actions are directly leading to Ukrainian children being killed daily by russian missiles and drones. Now, what would you call a person like that?!

The girl in the video lost her leg due to a russian attack. Yet she continues to smile, she continues to live. She is a symbol of the unyielding strength of the Ukrainian people who are fighting pure evil.
