آپ نے تقریریں سنی ہوں گی لیکن ایسی نہیں سنی ہوگی۔شاید میری حساسیت کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ میری اماں خود کینسر کا شکار ہوئیں۔ میں نے 1992 میں آٹھ ماہ دن رات ان کے ساتھ نشتر م��تان کے کینسر وارڈ میں گزارے جب ملتان یونیورسٹی میں پڑھ رہا تھا لہذا مجھے اس دکھ اور تکلیف کا احساس ہے جس کا ذکر یہاں ہورہا ہے۔
کینسر کے آخری اسٹیج پر 22 سالہ بیٹے نے ایک فارم پر دستخط کرنے سے یہ سرگوشی کر کے انکار کیا کہ ابھی نہیں جب ماں گھر جائے گی تو وہ پھر کرے گا۔ رات کو باپ آیا تو پھر دستخط کیے۔وجہ پوچھی گئی تو پتہ چلا وہ ماں کے سامنے یہ دستخط نہیں کرسکتا تھا کہ بیٹا چند دن کامہمان ہے ۔

کینڈا سے کینسر سائنٹسٹ ڈاکٹر عذرا رضا صاحبہ کی کنوویکشن پر کی گئی یہ غیرمعمولی دس منٹ کی تقریر وہ سب بچے جو ڈاکٹر بننا چاہتے ہیں یا بن چکے ہیں وہ ایک دفعہ سنیں کہ آپ ڈاکٹر کیوں بنتے ہیں۔
اس تقریر کے اختتام پر آپ بھی یقینا احترام کے لیے کھڑے ہوں گے جیسے وہاں موجود ��ب نوجوان ڈاکٹرز کھڑے ہوئے اور تادیر تالیاں بجاتے رہے۔ یہ تقریر سنتے ہوئے کچھ آنسو بچا کر رکھیے گا۔
