I am thrilled to announce the start of a project to digitise a collection of rare photographs of terracotta monuments in Bengal. The photographs were taken by Dr George Michell in the 1980s for his seminal book "The Brick Temples of Bengal: From the Archives of David McCutchion".
In the #Bengal#Delta, every #pond, or pukur, has stories to tell — of waterbirds and #wetland plants, of family memory, colonialist history, and #climatechange. My piece on ponds, #partition, and placemaking has been published in @PlacesJournal.

The real Ashoka tree is said to be the Sita Ashoka (Sarava asoca) of the Ashoka Vatika of Ravana! The flowers have a sweet fragrance and the tree looks very graceful. Safdarjung Tomb complex has a few of these trees!
