Whilst some of the more obvious stats for @IsaacFletcher02 jump out, such as an aerial duel success rate that ranks him in the top 20% of attacking midfielders in L2, and a brilliant 0.35xG/90, I thought it would be good to look a little deeper at the new #Salop man
One of the things I noticed last year with #Salop, was issues in managing territory & struggling to make it stick in the opposition half once they forced a turnover. This is Fletcher’s superpower. 0.31xT/90 generated from ball receptions and top 10% in progressive receptions 😮💨
If #Salop do end up bringing Iwan Morgan back in with his monster long throw, and perhaps someone like Cole Stockton is signed, it could be Full Blooded Gavin Cowan Salop Haramball in full flow next year
@Woaakk@AnalysisShrews Yeah that’s really valid. V inconsistent. But I think he could well turn into a Gav player. Presses a lot, works really hard, and I think in his limited cameo’s, he looked like one of the few town players with a good touch and ability to play in tight spaces.
From these radar charts immediately stands out his ability to progress the ball and generate threat through passing. Surprisingly even better in aerial duels at centre half than full back, his progressive receiving suggests to me he could play wing back as well as LCB.
Looking at the starting XI, most of the defence is now in place. What I do wonder about is depth in that back 5. Lee’s best position is probably as CCB. I think Stubbs makes a good understudy to Hoole for RCB, but we do lack left footed defender depth.
Another player that could be an interesting fit is Jon Esenga. A left footed Fulham U21 player capable of playing both Left Back and Centre Half, he could play a role in the squad covering 2 positions for #Salop
