One-hit wonder featured in Best American Mystery Stories 2010. Former Floridian, nouveau North Carolinian. I like crime fiction, horror fiction, and fishing.
@DavidJoy_Author Love this thread. I’m no novelist, but I make my living writing, and consider my training invaluable. It allowed me to learn things much faster than if I’d have set out blind and hope to discover them myself. Got a story into Best American once. Definitely didn’t pay the bills.
@DavidJoy_Author You know where that originated? When I hear “go-devil,” I think of an outboard motor with the prop extended way out back. Hitting a pig in the head with one wouldn’t produce optimal results.
@DavidJoy_Author It’s a shame. Applying a tax like this to all recreational outdoor equipment is a much needed first step. Pre-first step, we need a government that prioritizes a healthy environment for the good of people, wildlife, and the rest of the planet.
@DavidJoy_Author MeatEater fan? I learned about this through Steve Rinella’s podcast. I don’t hunt, only fish, but would love for this to be applied to all outdoor gear, from waders to mountain bikes. Wildlife and public lands need all the support they can get.
At the end of tonight, the copy desk at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch will be no more. I have many thoughts on this. Here are a few of them. #copyediting

@Deadlightsmag Yep. As a matter of fact, there were actually two professors who taught the course—one a believer in the supernatural and the other a skeptic—and they’d drop in on each other’s classes to provide alternative perspectives.
