African rapist and asylum seeker from Eritrea has been arrested in Belfast using false identities to hide his past 🇪🇷

Teklemariam Lijam (42) was wanted for failing to notify Irish authorities about a change of address after serving a jail sentence imposed in 2007 for a rape offence.

Prosecutors claimed Teklemariam used separate identities in an attempt to mislead authorities about his criminal past.

He claimed he "fled Eritrea to avoid military service and if he were to return his life would be in danger" and claimed refugee status.

Eritrean Man (42) Held in Belfast as Court Hears of Double Identities Concealing Past Dublin Rape Case

A 42-year-old Eritrean man arrested in Belfast after an international search is alleged to be the same person previously convicted of rape in Dublin under a different name, the High Court has heard.

Prosecutors claim Teklemariam Lijam used multiple identities to hide his criminal past. He has no fixed address and now faces charges of failing to register as a sex offender, giving false details to police, and perverting the course of justice.

Lady Chief Justice Dame Siobhan Keegan refused him bail, ruling there were no conditions under which he could safely be released into the community. The court was told Lijam was detained in March after Interpol asked the PSNI to help find a high-risk sex offender named Bereket Mekonnen.

Mekonnen was wanted for not notifying Irish authorities of a change of address after serving a sentence imposed in 2007 for rape. Fingerprint records allegedly matched those of Lijam.
Crown counsel said the defendant entered the UK in 2024 and was later prosecuted over a separate exposure offence.

Police believe the name and date of birth he has given are false, and that he is in fact the man convicted in Dublin. He is accused of deliberately withholding the name used in the Republic of Ireland to mislead the courts here.

During interview, Lijam neither confirmed nor denied being the man shown in a newspaper photograph from the earlier case, saying he could not verify the content because it was not in his native language. Home Office checks into his true identity are continuing, and a European Arrest Warrant is being prepared in Ireland.

Prosecutors argued he uses two identities and that police have reasonable grounds to doubt he has given his real name. Defence solicitor Kelly Doherty challenged claims that he had obstructed justice or posed a flight risk, stressing his refugee status in the UK.
She said he fled Eritrea to escape military service and that returning would put his life in danger. She also stated he denies being the person identified by the Irish authorities.

Despite these submissions, bail was refused on the basis that Lijam presented a risk of reoffending or absconding. The Lady Chief Justice concluded she was not satisfied any conditions could address those risks.

A man who drugged his daughter and her friends during a sleepover, before raping one of the girls during a purported game of hide and seek in the woods, has been jailed for 15 years and a half years.

When the 47-year-old father's phone was seized by gardaí, they found encrypted vault footage of him raping the same girl when she was passed out at a previous sleepover a week earlier, as well as child abuse images of her, his older daughter and two more of his daughters' teenage friends.

"just" six trafficked & pimped women and children offered for prostituted sex in county Meath this morning, down from 11, seven days ago. All on an illegal website controlled by an Irish family of jailbird pimps and their associates.

It's been quite the week! The day after the Tweet below, one of the child-like females offered for prostituted sex was replaced by a female who was obviously much older.

The four brothels are now down to three.

With "just" six advertisements, we need to be careful on claims but it looks like one Chinese trafficking gang with women and girls they claim are Korean, Japanese & Taiwanese is the main remaining presence.

Navan has seen around €15,000 flow into the pockets of criminal gangs in the past week.

But instead of coining in €2200 a week from their illegal advertising, the McCormicks are just getting €1200 for the six people advertised today on their website (which could be closed down by tea-time by Gardai/Dept of Justice writing to the Tech Ireland group at IBEC like they did with Russia Today)

Navan remains the county brothel town for Meath with 100% of the advertised prostitution in the county.

Local TD and Aontú leader Peadar Toibin remains silent on the matter. The 10 gardai in the town remain uninterested and fail to record a single offence. And the Meath Chronicle local paper based in Navan would prefer not to touch the subject.

Neither Somali man was issued with a deportation order. He most likely claimed asylum as Somalis are flooding into Ireland from countries like Sweden to claim asylum.

Abdinafa Abdullahi Haji (30) was arrested at Dublin Airport after flying to Brussels and back on the same day, returning with the other man.

Haji moved to Sweden in 2012, became a Swedish citizen around 2021, and later moved to Ireland, where he worked at Dublin Airport before becoming a cash-in-transit driver, his barrister said. Haji now "hopes to obtain a taxi licence"

The focus of the panel was to criticise the UK Supreme Court ruling which restored the primacy of biological sex.

Three months later, Sara Morrison sought the recusal of a wing-member of her tribunal, "Professor" Deborah Boyd because of Boyd's links to WRDA, an organisation which holds views on men with gender dysphoria which are at odds with the majority of society**

A Mother’s Urgent Plea 🚨

A mother from Hollyhill, Cork, is speaking out as her family reaches breaking point due to a severe lack of support for her disabled teenage son.

Chantelle Healy’s 15-year-old son, Arthur, was born with schizencephaly and hydrocephalus following a stroke in the womb.

As a result, he only has around one-third of his brain and can communicate using only single words.

As Arthur has grown taller (5ft 7in) and stronger, he has become increasingly aggessive at home.

Gardaí have had to be called to the family home several times.

Chantelle shared that she is "petrified" when he returns home from school and feels like she and Arthur are "just existing."

Respite care was completely withdrawn after Arthur experienced a meltdown during an overnight stay, despite causing no harm to anyone.

Chantelle applied for a residential placement in February but received no response.

Sinn Féin TD Thomas Gould’s office has been chasing the HSE for over a month, warning them of the "urgent" and "dangerous" nature of the case, but the family still awaits a resolution.

According to HSE South West, there are zero vacant beds among the 19 children currently in residential placement in Cork City.

350 people are awaiting placements, 9 of whom are children.

No family should be left to cope with a severe care, medical and safety crisis alone without adequate residential support or respite care.

The State signed 4,700 deportation orders last year. It carried out 185.

That is not enforcement. That is theatre, and it is being funded by the taxpayer.

Worse again, the Department of Justice cannot tell us where the rest of them are. I asked directly how many people under deportation orders have gone missing. The Department produced no number at all.

So the official position of the Irish State is that it hopes they went home.

The same paper reports more than 16,000 people arrived at Dublin Airport without passports since 2020.

The public has been asked to accept a lot on immigration. The least they are owed is a government that knows who is in the country.

High Court Orders Surrender of Sudanese Man to UK After Rejecting Prison Conditions Challenge

The High Court has ordered the surrender of a Sudanese man to the United Kingdom to face prosecution for alleged rape and sexual assault, rejecting arguments that he would face a real risk of inhuman or degrading treatment if detained in English prisons.

Mr Justice Sean Gillane delivered the judgment in proceedings brought by the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration seeking the surrender of Adam Saby under the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003, as adapted for requests made under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

The surrender request was based on an arrest warrant issued after the respondent allegedly failed to comply with bail conditions, while the underlying proceedings concerned charges of rape and sexual assault that are alleged to have occurred in London on 2 September 2022. The alleged rape carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, while the sexual assault offence carries a maximum sentence of ten years.

The respondent did not dispute that he was the person named in the warrant but opposed his surrender on human rights grounds. His sole substantive objection was that, if returned to the United Kingdom, he would likely be detained in either Wormwood Scrubs Prison or Pentonville Prison, where he claimed prison conditions would expose him to treatment contrary to Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

It was argued that the respondent was particularly vulnerable because he was a young Sudanese national who, according to his legal team, was a refugee, did not speak English and had been assessed for suicidal ideation while in custody in Ireland. He relied on reports from the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and public criticism of conditions at the two London prisons, including allegations of overcrowding, prolonged confinement in cells and poor living conditions.

The High Court, however, found significant shortcomings in the evidence presented. Mr Justice Gillane noted that no affidavit had been sworn by the respondent, no medical or psychiatric reports had been produced and there was no objective evidence establishing that he suffered from any recognised serious mental illness. The court also observed that there was no evidence that the respondent would, in fact, be detained in either of the prisons identified by the defence.

The judge further held that the respondent had relied heavily on older reports while overlooking more recent material. The latest reports recorded improvements at Wormwood Scrubs, including refurbishment works, better prison conditions and updated mental health services. The United Kingdom authorities had also outlined investments in prison infrastructure, healthcare and mental health support, together with reforms relating to segregation policies and prison accommodation.

In considering the legal framework, the court reviewed the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union in Alchaster, which established the approach to be taken when considering surrender requests under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement. Unlike the former European Arrest Warrant regime, the principle of mutual trust does not automatically apply. Instead, Irish courts must conduct a forward looking assessment of whether there are substantial grounds for believing that the individual concerned faces a real risk of a breach of fundamental rights. The court also relied on the High Court decision in Minister for Justice v Dumitri, which confirmed that although mutual trust is reduced in Trade and Cooperation Agreement cases, the United Kingdom's long standing commitment to the European Convention on Human Rights remains an important consideration.

Applying those principles, Mr Justice Gillane concluded that the respondent had failed to establish either a general risk arising from prison conditions or an individual risk arising from his own circumstances. The court found there was insufficient objective, reliable and up to date evidence demonstrating that his surrender would expose him to treatment contrary to Article 3 of the Convention.

Having rejected the respondent's objections, the High Court held that the statutory requirements for surrender had been satisfied and ordered that he be surrendered to the United Kingdom to face prosecution on the outstanding charges.
