Week 10-focus- the beginning of the year always pulls on my momma heart. Trying to get stuff ready for work and soak up the last few days at home with my girls! Being back to work means I need to make the most of my time. Stay focused and be present wherever I am! #livewell323
Week 9-give- going through my closet before school starts means I have lot of clothes to give to goodwill! Also, trying to give the girls a memorable last week of summer (they start the 11)… 🤞🏼going to a lake obstacle course on Wednesday! #livewell323
W4Q4 I think BIST and the “our students” mindset is so helpful when we see Ss struggling with behaviors. I think our school is in a good place bc of BIST… we have open conversations that are Student centered #belonging323
W4Q3- being present is one thing I want to focus on more this year! I also love the idea of letters of encouragement. I want to try and do more of those this year!#belonging323
W4Q2- I think it’s important to let all students in crisis be given an outlet that helps them cope. Whether it is physical movement, the arts, etc. it’s important to get to know our Ss and give them access to the things they enjoy. #belonging323
W4Q1 my success plan will be flexible, bc each student is different. However, no matter what, it will involve staying calm, validating Ss feelings, and giving the students time to process their feelings. #belonging323
Week 8-reconnect- summers are my time to reconnect with friends and family. I don’t have to feel guilty making plans in the evening bc I have been at work all day. Come July though, I’m ready to reconnect with my work family as we prepare for the next school year. #livewell323
W3Q4- BIST has been so helpful! This model focuses on grace and accountability. Letting the students know the expectations, but being there for them to help support them along the way. #belonging323
W3Q3- both ways try to solve the behavior issues. However, heartfelt problem solving involves the Ss in the process and has more of a long term impact. There is a big difference in “doing to vs doing with”#belonging323
W3Q2- share a note: showing my gratitude for my students and helping them feel appreciated. Share the news- parents would love seeing this in our weekly update! kindness challenge- not just during kindness week… helping Ss know kindness happens all year! #belonging323
W3Q1- “however, it is only when you turn that into an action can it turn into a practice that really benefits you and others.” I love the “share a note” idea. My goal is to try and do this with every student at least once this year. #belonging323
W2Q4- I think students with challenging behaviors need more positive connections. Again, those connections go back to creating a sense of belonging. Loved the idea of thumbs-up Thursday and feel Good Fridays! #belonging323
W2Q3- one of the biggest strengths at our school is the mindset of “these are OUR students.” There is still room for growth. I don’t always know what my sped Ss are working on outside of my classroom. Time to collaborate is the biggest challenge. #belonging323
W2q2- generosity resonates with me the most. As a mom and educator this is my biggest goal- raise/teach children to make positive contributions in society. The circle of courage made me realize this is not a stand alone skill. There are many factors! #belonging323
W2Q1- having Ss feel like they belong is crucial for a successful classroom. I feel like our Ss definitely have a sense of belonging. I think for any student it is hard to feel like they “belong” when they’re in trouble. BIST has helped so much with this idea! #belonging323
W6-fulfill- feeling a sense of fulfillment as I have been organizing closets and cabinets this past weekend… Summer and breaks are my lifesaver! #livewell323
W1Q4- “when your cup is full, you might feel rested, happy, and patient.” This is so true for me. I am a much better mom and teacher when my cup is full. Self care for me is quality time with family… “letting go” of perfection has helped too! #belonging323
W1Q3- I think communication is the best way to approach these rocks. Not just conversations about identifying them, but also strategies to help them. Having someone to listen and support you can make a world of difference! #belonging323
W1Q2- behavior management has always been a challenge in education. The BIST model has been so helpful for many school in the district. One size doesn’t fit all, but this helps with common language and the belief that unwanted behaviors come from a missing skill #belonging323
