🚨Confirmation of a massive potential ZEC exploit
TLDR:
- ZCASH hired a security researcher to try to find exploit vectors
- The researcher (Taylor Hornby) found one that would let him create unlimited counterfeit ZEC in a shielded pool
- The exploit is now fixed as of June 1
- There is no way to know if the pool was exploited BUT the team feels that it is unlikely
- They're proposing a network upgrade with new accounting that would prove whether any counterfeit ZEC was created or not
Market clearly spooked with ZEC down 25%
Governments and corporations want you to believe that verifying your age on the internet is harmless.
Three hacktivists have now exposed that we are sold as software to protect the children is in reality the most powerful tool for extrajudicial persecution on the planet.
Every click, every post, every profile you have on the internet is analyzed and evaluated.
Pictures of your face, subjected to over 250 verification checks, compared to watchlists via facial recognition, and stored for up to 3 years on some central server, along with your IP address, device, and browser fingerprint.
And with its integrated financial reporting that the software provides to financial institutions, banks now have direct access to scan your entire online life – and report you to the government.
This combination is not coincidental, and it can do a lot more than just land you on a watchlist.
When the same software to surveil you online is used to determine whether you can have a bank account, one wrong post on social media can have you lose your home, your job, your savings, and your life.
There once was a regime that perfected the use of banks for political persecution. It did not end well for those who dared to speak their minds.
Dystopian is too weak of a word to describe the future we are heading towards.
Holy fuck do not do this. NO ONE who is not a developer or sysadmin should be running Clawdbot on a machine they run a node or Lightning node on.
Holy shit. DO NOT do this.
@JOKAQARMY1 I think this is the guy that has a youtube vid about ET's, andromedans and what not, don't remember much about that, but do still remember that question, which has stuck since it's a damn truthbomb.
I gave a talk on Stable Channels at @PresidioBitcoin in San Francisco. It's a bitcoin-only, decentralized alternative to stablecoins and exchanges. Learn more 👇
@Printer_Gobrrr 10 sats on no difference, or marginally better (that one share submitted 100 miliseconds after a found network block by the wifi unit). That said, a > netdiff hash will certainly matter sent 283 miliseconds faster.
@nfinf5@lauriewired Still a useful tip to format a smaller partition than there's space in the drive, for users not paying attention to used space, unlike some nerds that df -h on a daily basis *cough*.
@lookonchain Almost $100M drained and still counting. DeFi security is a joke at this point. If you’re still chasing yield there you’re asking to get clipped. ⚠️💀
@maxkeiser If 10 million people would, hash-odds would change from 1 to 1.1 billion now to 1 to 1.11 billion. I don't think a lottery compares, as those numbers/odds are fixed opposed to (near?) infinite hashes. Your bitaxe could run for eons and not hit a block, or 1 second and do.
@binji_x Pointless. You'll be front run, unless you have front running front run frontrunomatomatic software with 0 hardwired multiplexing latency to internet backbones.
