So, I got some unfortunate news yesterday. A writing contest I’d submitted to a few months ago announced the names of their 20 semi-finalists. I was not one of them. I won’t let this stop me! I’m not giving up on my dream!

@JWillows_Author “Is the bag ready? Are we forgetting anything?”
My wife giggled and took my arm. “My love, we made sure the bag was packed last night, remember? Now, let’s get to the hospital.”
I smiled and caressed her swollen belly. “I love you. Both of you. I can’t wait to see you.”
@JWillows_Author A tear slides down my face as I stare at the ashes before me. Every memory of pain, of anguish, of despair, they were meant to burn with him. So why is every one still alive in my mind? Why is every bruise and every broken bone engraved in my body while every scar has faded? Why?
So. I did a thing. My next big step towards being a published author. I submitted my first 50 finished pages of Highland Rose for a writing contest, and now I wait to see how I did.

@ML_Philosophy Depends. If it’s a man who is opening his heart to me and he’s crying as a sign of vulnerability, then I want to give him a hug and help him let it out. If he’s crying because he’s being entitled and not getting what he wants, then I’m turning around and walking away.
This doesn’t feel real. At least, not yet. I used #NaNoWriMo to push me to write my first book, HIGHLAND ROSE. Today, I managed to do what I thought was impossible. At a final word count of 50,075, I finished my first full novel. Next step, rewrites.

I know I’ve been quiet lately, but with good reason! With #NaNoWriMo only a week away from ending, I’ve officially broken my #40k mark for my #wordcount on Highland Rose! Gotta say, feeling pretty confident!

Almost two weeks into #NaNoWriMo and Highland Rose is currently sitting at 16,737 words! It might not be much, but I'm proud of the progress I've made so far. If all goes well, I could hit my 50k goal before the month is out!

@JWillows_Author I remember when Dad took me camping as a child, how we’d stare up at the sky. He got me to try counting the stars a few times, but I always lost count!
As I looked up at the sky, I couldn’t help but wonder if he was watching over me, seeing if I ever finished counting the stars.
