@joboaler I am a middle school math teacher, and I absolutely agree with this article! Teaching students how to THINK (arithmetically and algebraically) and persevere in problem solving is much more important than mastering most of the concepts in upper level secondary mathematics!

Why only "half credit" back? What grading research says to do that?? We just make this stuff up. There is no average time to learn something so why do we punish kids who take longer to learn it?
