Here is the INC statement on the shocking shift in the stance of the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs on the consent role of the Gram Sabha under the Forest Rights Act, 2006. In this memorandum, the Ministry has stated that “there is no provision” in the Act requiring Gram Sabha consent for projects diverting forest land for non-forest purposes.
