Thank you Vinesh for giving everything on the mat. Unbelievable after 2 years out of competition, giving birth to a child a few months ago & still competing this well.
Thank you for fighting the good fight off the mat. You will be remembered for generations to come
Even by the standards of a country ranking 157 of 180 nations in the World Press Freedom Index, the reaction of the authorities to the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ is beyond extraordinary. The public response to that imaginative prank should have signalled to them a deep discontent, even distress, among young people. Instead, as The Indian Express reported, it was framed as jeopardising the country’s ‘national security’ and ‘posing a threat to the sovereignty of India.’ Decades ago, the Malaysian lawyer and poet Cecil Rajendra wrote this brilliant poem that captures the idiocy of it better than any pompous editorialising could (not that our ‘mainstream’ media would dare do even that much).

Elections in India have always meant @PrannoyRoy7749 for sane, sensible interpretation of the trends & results and that’s why today the screens in my office have been tuned to @DeKoderAI to watch the unfolding political earthquake in West Bengal & Tamil Nadu. The aftershocks of these results will be felt far & wide for a long time, probably all the way up to 2029.
One of post-Independence India’s influential theatre figures, Amol Palekar’s experimental ethos and disciplined artistry have profoundly influenced Marathi and Hindi performance traditions. Preparing for one more comeback under the direction of his doughty partner Sandhya Gokhale, the veteran speaks about how his work has long embodied the abiding power of subtle revolution.

Mumbai University didn’t allow Naseeruddin Shah to speak.
So, Mumbaikars turned up in large numbers to hear him deliver the talk at an alternate venue, with Anand Patwardhan moderating it.
A full house for him, and a rebuke for those who tried to silence him.
Hurtful to see @IndianExpress publishing a piece trying to understand the reasons of the murder of Gandhi. This is covert validation of the murderer after saying the murder was wrong.
