@RaptorsSlander They’re programmed on sub with new target plans able to be created there and then. There is no “link” to America to change destination or targets, they don’t even use GPS or satellites once fired so can’t be intercepted or disrupted.
@philippac72@agile_phil This is my question too. How can they account for power coming from my PV. What about bump charges that use my PV fully or with some grid power? They’re going to charge peak pricing for the whole charge even though they’re not supplying 100% of the power.
@AlrightMyLovely You’re talking about 2050, you know those nuclear power stations that I mentioned above - they’ll be running by then. You said about power now, there is enough power for now; UK demand usage trend is decreasing and even when looking at 2050 new nuclear stations will be active…
@AlrightMyLovely Much quicker than traditional nuclear power stations, anyway we have plenty of power as it is. The lights will stay on, don’t worry about being in the dark!
@AlrightMyLovely We have plenty of power for the grid, there is no shortage of power generation for the UK to meet supply and demand. Additionally electricity demand is on a downward or flatline trend in the UK. Anyway, did you miss the new nuclear Powerstation announcements this week?
@hosun_chung We already have this… Peak at £0.27, off peak at £0.07, sell at £0.15. We have free energy sessions & EV charges, energy saving sessions etc. through Octopus & other suppliers to manage grid demand.
I’m here for Tesla (have a Powerwall), but this isn’t something new in the UK
@ProudBrit19 No one has installed a single wind turbine with the expectation that it runs 100% 24/7. Gas or nuclear isn’t expected to run 24/7 at 100%, so why should wind?
Gas and solar are matching in terms of generation right now. Without solar we’ll need more gas, which costs more £££.
@ProudBrit19 Your point being that the energy fuel mix changes throughout the day, which is expected...
Do you complain when gas power stations suddenly go offline, or when gas/nuclear has maintenance offline time - they sound expensive and unreliable sitting there not generating power!
@LFC_FanDan New stations and investment into SMRs. I don’t really know what else you’re expecting? Nuclear plants aren’t quick to build, even for China it takes 6-7 years which doesn’t have to adhere to as many hurdles as we do when building.
@CoffeyTimeNews They should cancel and join the 6th gen Tempest project, no US involvement, test flight within a couple of years with completion set within the decade.
@foxxy4567 Yeah, the UK has a high gas reliance & elec is priced against gas which is expensive. Hence the talk of market reforms to change the pricing structure.
Paying 17p today due green power.
@allanconnal Due to green energy there is another Free Electricity session with Octpous between 1-2pm and my price tomorrow is 17p for elec.
Hardly a rip off or green con don’t you think?
@allanconnal Who is dumping solar panels after 3 years?
We have backups, different generation mixes that includes more than wind & sun. We now have a new connection with Norway to tap into their renewables when ours is low too to help balance.
Green energy is cheaper, why pay more for gas?
@allanconnal Green energy isn’t a con then if you go with the right company and the right tariff for your needs. It’s much cheaper when the renewables generation is high and gas usage is low!
@allanconnal Have you looked at the different Octopus tariffs vs the price cap?
My avg Tracker rate is elec 17.5p, lowest was over Xmas at 8.3p. Last week elec it was 11p.
We had another ‘free energy hour’, while on Agile the elec price went negative this week.
All thanks to green energy!
