Today, on #InternationalDayOfUNPeacekeepers, the Permanent Mission of India 🇮🇳& Austria 🇦🇹 proudly co-host a solemn commemoration at the Permanent Mission of India, New York.
We honor the nearly 4,000 brave peacekeepers including 184 Indians who made the ultimate sacrifice under the UN flag. Specifically remember the 45 uniformed peacekeepers who lost their lives in this noble cause over the past year.
Their courage & dedication to peace will never be forgotten.
Lest we forget.
In commemoration of the 78th United Nations Peacekeepers Day, Lieutenant General Vipul Shinghal, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (IS&T), laid a wreath at the National War Memorial, paying tribute to the #Bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice while serving in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
On the occasion, Dag Hammarskjöld Medals were awarded posthumously to Lance Havildar Harbhajan Singh and Naib Subedar Sujit Kumar Pradhan in honour of their exemplary courage, dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty.
Marking the occasion, the #IndianArmy also hosted a dialogue on “Future of UN Global Peacekeeping” at Manekshaw Centre, attended by Mr Stefan Priesner, Amb Ruchira Kamboj, Lieutenant General Satish Nambiar (Retd) and other senior military dignitaries, reaffirming India’s steadfast commitment towards global peace and security.

#GeneralUpendraDwivedi, #COAS inaugurated the new office chambers of India’s International Movement to Unite Nations (IIMUN), marking a significant milestone in advancing youth engagement and leadership development.
Addressing the gathering of Head of Institutions from across the country on “Lessons from Leading the Indian Army,” the #COAS drew upon his leadership experience to underscore the importance of integrity, decisiveness, adaptability and leading by example. He emphasised that institutions, like the Army, thrive on vision, discipline, teamwork and a strong culture of mentorship, values that nurture resilient leaders and responsible Nation Builders.
On the sidelines, the #IndianArmy and #IIMUN also signed an MoU to enhance cooperation in peacekeeping training through the exchange of expertise, seminars, exercises and participation of subject-matter experts at major international forums.

The United Nations Troop Contributing Countries Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 concluded in New Delhi on 16 October 2025, following three days of focused deliberations on strengthening international cooperation in UN peacekeeping.
This seminal gathering brought together Army Chiefs and senior military leaders from 32 countries, along with key United Nations officials, to share insights, foster collaboration and shape forward-looking strategies for peacekeeping in an increasingly complex global security environment.
Hosting the first of its kind United Nations Troop Contributing Chiefs’ Conclave, India reaffirmed its commitment to UN peacekeeping and its leadership in promoting multilateralism, capacity building and collective action for global peace and security.

Curtain Raiser – UN TCC Chiefs’ Conclave 2025
A Curtain Raiser for the United Nations Troop Contributing Countries (UN TCC) Chiefs’ Conclave 2025 was held today at the #ManekshawCentre, #NewDelhi. The event was chaired by Lieutenant General Rakesh Kapoor, Deputy Chief of the Army Staff (Information Systems & Training).
The forthcoming conclave, scheduled from 13 to 16 October 2025, will bring together military chiefs from various nations to deliberate on challenges, best practices and the way forward for UN peacekeeping.
