@petulantbunni Honestly, I know this one is a fan favorite amongst the modern Evil Deads but I think Rise and Burn are much better. Better SFX and more memorable Deadite performances. Some of the CGI with Mia when she's locked in the basement is appallingly bad in Evil Dead 2013.
@ZeroSuitCamus Currently watching the whole series in order. I liked 2, 3, and 4. They aren't masterpieces by any means but they are fun 80s slashers that really do a good job of embodying what the genre is all about. Any horror fan should watch at least a couple of them.
@onceforeverking@duraframeyebot Andy Weir writes hard sci-fi, and this story is no exception. The whole point is that it's scientifically accurate. "it's just a book" is not a valid excuse for books of this genre.
@duraframeyebot Bro didn't even have a background in linguistics or anything like that, it was crazy. It took Amy Adams ages to even read a sentence of the aliens language in Arrival and she WAS ACTUALLY A LINGUIST.
@duraframeyebot Dude I hated the book so fucking much but I had to finish it so that my hate had critical validity. It's not even just the prose, the plot is fucked. How the FUCK did Ryan Gosling translate rock alien language and english both ways nearly fluently in a couple months?
@alanbulletts Rym - way bigger catalog, much deeper analytical reviews yet can be pretentious, much deeper genre categories, every genre you've ever imagined has a category.
AOTY - I think people mainly like it for the critic reviews for new releases
