We strongly condemn the arrests of pro-democracy activists who stood in last year's democratic primaries. Beijing is once again undermining Hong Kong's democracy & breaching its obligations under the Sino-British Joint Declaration.
So winning elections is subversion?
#CCP is only doing this to #HongKong because Britain & the free world has responded to grave breaches of an international treaty with mere words
@DominicRaab@BorisJohnson words don't work with #XiJinping. Actions might

This makes me want to vomit. I’m not sure if it’s worse or better that most if not all of them had probably been waiting for this to happen. #HongKong#NationalSecurityLaw
(update) Former lawmaker WU Chi Wai has just been arrested as well.
And many other who participated in the primary including Tiffany Yuen, Gary Fan etc were also arrested.
#BREAKING#HongKong wakes up to another round of arrests of pro-democracy activists. Several ppl, includ LSD's Leung Kwok-hung, Tiffany Yuen from disbanded Demosisto & Ventus Lau, were arrested over #NationalSecurityLaw, for joining pan-dems Legco primaries in July.
Local media are reporting that dozens of Hong Kong pro-democracy activists & politicians have been arrested under the National Security Law. This is the biggest crackdown so far under the NSL & the biggest ever wave of arrests of major pro-democracy figures in one day in HK.
Alvin Yeung, Ventus Lau & Gary Fan have also been arrested, according to their social media accounts. Fergus Leung is also being served with a search warrant at his home, so an arrest is likely to follow
That's at least seven arrests in relation to the pre-LegCo primary in July.
UPDATE: Multiple 2020 Legco candidates that participated in the pro-democracy camp primary were arrested at home this morning under the #NationalSecurityLaw for subversion.
Eddie Chu was again arrested this morning at 6:25 am pertaining to the 35+ primary election. Eddie Chu is accused of breaching the draconian National Security Law. It is not yet known which Police station has been sent to.
Hong Kong must immediately release all 15 pro-democracy activists arrested over the weekend.
Governments should not be using this pandemic to silence dissent.
The declaration by #Beijing’s Liaison Office that it isn't subject to the #BasicLaw is a severe blow to #HongKong autonomy & rule of law. Article 22 of the Basic Law is clear & the Hong Kong gov't should reject, not endorse, this assault on “one country, two systems” framework.
