Well, stablecoin expert was short lived. We're building @bettermoney_co and it's been a long time coming.
We're hiring across the board - especially engineers with payments, ledgering, and distributed systems experience. DM me if you want to build better money.
I just explained to my mother in law that in NY you can just go into a pizza place and get individual slices. She’s amazed. I’m trying hard to keep it together.
At any given moment, almost every company has money that is unaccounted for. It isn't missing, and it isn't stolen. It's sitting somewhere in transit, stuck between accounts.
Our colleague Anuj spent years in treasury on the settlements team at one of the world's largest payment networks, coordinating daily settlement across thousands of banks in over 100 countries. And the job still came down to one question: did the money move correctly?
The problem isn't speed or the people managing settlements. It's that a payment crosses several institutions that each keep an independent ledger, and those ledgers rarely agree. SWIFT processes roughly $5 trillion daily but never holds or moves a dollar. The money settles across a network of correspondent banks, each managing its own books. That architecture made sense when banks kept paper ledgers, but even once the paper became software, the fragmentation stayed.
So what happens in practice? Sometimes the money simply doesn't show up. A client confirms a payment but the recipient sees nothing, which opens a two-week investigation across four parties until someone finds it stuck at a correspondent bank in between.
It's tempting to think AI solves this, but an agent working faster is still doing the same work because the payment still crosses institutions whose ledgers don't agree. The fix isn't faster people or smarter software on top of broken architecture. It's a shared truth.
Stablecoins provide exactly that. A stablecoin dollar lives on a programmable ledger that every party to a payment can see. The payment and the proof of the payment are one event, not a message in one system and a settlement spread across numerous others.
For years we've tried to upgrade the systems and processes around money. Stablecoins upgrade the money itself.
