Yesterday I was selected to be part of a #UKGOV trade mission on the future of our cities. I presented @TheFloowltd and our work using data to help make mobility smarter, safer, greener and importantly more inclusive.
Some photos form the #SCEWC2023 event - the worlds largest gathering that influences and shapes our future cities bringing together data, governments, industry and leading innovators to improve where we live, move and play.
Yesterday at #SCEWC2023 I explained the scope & aims of our @Project_PHOEBE. This @HorizonEU research was discussed in a panel session and also shared through various stands in the event. It helped (in part) to demonstrate UKs role in #FutureMobility projects making safer cities
I'm happy to have input over the last 5 years into autonomous vehicle regulation.
It is good to see in yesterdays kings speech the announcement of new automated vehicle legislation.
Importantly this legislation aims to put safety first. ๐
Yesterday I spoke at one of my favourite meet-ups @SmartSheffield๐ก
I revealed positive impacts from #telematics in areas well beyond risk, including:
1) Pollution - with @WMAir_UoB
2) Neurology - for the @RoadSafetyTruUK
3) Road Safety - with @Project_PHOEBE
any many more
So instead of HS2 north of Birmingham funding is instead being planned to fund a range of smaller programs to the same value. 'If ALL are delivered' this 'could' add more value to the north than HS2.
The details are included in the following document

The big question with the list of newly prioritised projects is - will they all be delivered? We are facing a potential political change that may alter priorities and the details for these plans require work still meaning some of these projects may get dropped.
If we are to embrace a green and positive economic future, S.Yorkshire public transport networks require GOV investment that it currently lacks.
Rail needs more capacity
Buses need funding
Without this the regions economic and green targets will be very challenging!

Yesterday for @sheffchamber I spoke briefly on @BBCSheffield about HS2 ๐ & impacts to the #Northern economy.
~90 mins in - if interested https://t.co/IircECu98J

Today: @SouthYorksMayor responded by letter to @RishiSunak in discussing HS2 added claims of 'investing more in South Yorkshires buses' which have in reality had funding cut to less than 50% of prior levels.

Areas of risk growth always should be focused upon to build mitigations.
Better tracking on growing risk is vital to understand the best mitigations.
With changed patterns of home working has risk increased? And if so what should be targeted as interventions?
Any evidence?
