After years of outstanding service, our captain, our leader and a true Sporting Weston legend, Joe Smith, has decided to retire from football. ๐๐ค
From the very beginning, Smithy has been the heartbeat of this football club. His commitment, passion and leadership have helped shape Sporting Weston into what it is today, and his contribution simply cannot be measured in appearances alone.
Everyone at Sporting Weston would like to thank Joe for everything he has given to the club. While he may be hanging up his boots, weโre delighted that Smithy will still be around the club and will always remain a huge part of the Sporting family.
As one chapter closes, another begins.
The captainโs armband is now passed to Jordon Bonner, with Toby Herbert and Nathaniel Groom appointed as Vice Captains.
A strong leadership group for the 2026/27 season, ready to build on everything that has come before.
Thank you, Smithy. Once Sporting, always Sporting. ๐๐ค
