In some personal news, today was my last day at ONS for 5 months. I'm off on parental leave with the little one! There'll be less vis and stats from me for a bit while I work on my nursery rhyme repertoire but follow me for the occasional PL update.
We’ve updated our personal inflation calculator 🖩
Use it to calculate your own personal inflation experience based on what you spend your money on.

Did you know more people living in London worked in computer programming than in finance at the time of Census 2021? This plus other interesting insights into local industry changes in our latest article from me and @Annaekhoo https://t.co/wmeremlcQq
Striking chart showing change in people out of the workforce because of long-term sickness - up almost 500,000 since 2019.
We’ve more to learn about what is behind this, but ageing workforce, COVID, NHS waiting lists and even home working could play a role.
Amazing that this @ONS tool to calculate "personal inflation" has been developed (i.e. a better estimate of how much prices are rising for you personally, rather than average person). And importantly, it has now been embedded on @BBCNews website, to reach more people.👏

Really proud to have worked on this piece with @palmerthree@StatsAinslieONS on how people are responding to rising costs. There's so much in this data and plenty more to come from us over the coming months.
We’ve also used a larger pool of data (30 March to 19 June 2022) to examine what actions people are taking to combat the rising cost of living in a separate article 📈 https://t.co/722ReuDXhv
